Young adults with intellectual disability (ID) do not use ICT as much as their peers, and little is known about how ICT is used by young adults with ID. This study describes the use of ICT from the perspective of young adults with mild to moderate ID in a municipal social care context.

This article reports on the results of a pilot study exploring whether and how the meal situations of persons with intellectual disabilities (PWIDs) in need of help and support during meal situations were affected by an eating aid. This article also analyzes how PWIDs and their assistants perceived their experiences of using an eating aid during meal situations. Data for the study were collected in interviews with PWIDs and their assistants.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune, systemic, chronic, inflammatory disease generally treated with various immunosuppressive drugs. Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is an opportunistic, viral infection that is commonly seen in immunosuppressed patients. A sixty-four-year old female diagnosed with RA and treated with immunosuppressive agents was admitted to our rheumatology outpatient service with complaints of diarrhea and abdominal pain, which had lasted longer than four weeks.

Background/aims: Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) oxidase, which catalyzes the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in phagocytic cells, has five subunits: p67phox ("phox"refers to "phagocyte oxidase"), p47phox, p40phox, p22phox, and gp91phox (catalytic subunit). Oxidative stress resulting from the accumulation of ROS and/or defective removal of ROS by antioxidants has detrimental effects on cellular functions and may contribute to chronic inflammation. Disruption of the colonic mucosa due to the dysregulation of antioxidants or transformation enzymes may play a role in the pathogenesis of ulcerative colitis (UC) and influence the clinical features of this disease.

Recurrent gastrointestinal bleeding in a patient with Eisenmenger syndrome using bosentan.

Eisenmenger syndrome is associated with irreversible increase in pulmonary vascular resistance causing reduced survival. Bosentan, a non-selective endothelin receptor antagonist is the commonly used specific pulmonary arterial hypertension drug in Eisenmenger syndrome. In this paper, we present a case of recurrent gastrointestinal bleeding in a 23-year-old female with Eisenmenger syndrome who was only under bosentan treatment, which has not been reported previously.
