Much progress has been made in the field of automated monitoring systems of airborne pathogens. However, they still lack the robustness and stability necessary for field deployment. Here, we demonstrate a bioaerosol automonitoring instrument (BAMI) specifically designed for the in situ capturing and continuous monitoring of airborne fungal particles.

A sensitive method for selectively detecting insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 7 (IGFBP7) over a wide range of concentrations based on the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensing techniques is described. IGFBP7 has been shown to regulate cell proliferation, cell adhesion, cellular senescence, apoptosis, and angiogenesis in several different cancer cell lines. Since the concentration of IGFBP7 can vary widely in the body, determining the precise concentration of IGFBP7 over a wide range of concentrations is important, since it serves as an inducible biomarker for both disease diagnosis and subsequent therapy.

The configuration of the WcBiM chip was gold (Au)/waveguide (ZnS-SiO2)/silver (Ag). In the intensity measurement mode, the sensitivity could be improved by reducing the full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the reflectance curve.

HIV-1 provirus is the major obstacle for effective HIV-1 treatment because it integrates into the host genome and can produce a virus progeny after stopping highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART). We established two novel cell lines latently infected with HIV-1 by limiting dilution cloning of A3.

Methods: A total of 148 NSCLC patients, previously enrolled in 2 different prospective clinical trials, were genotyped for the p53 Arg72Pro and MDM2 309T>G polymorphisms. Immunohistochemical staining of p53 protein was performed on 61 tumor samples.
The distribution of HPV16 sequence variations differs geographically and specific HPV16 E6 and E7 variants might carry a high risk for development of invasive cervical cancer and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia in a given population. To investigate the genetic variation of HPV 16 E6 and E7 genes, genomic DNAs from 56 HPV16-infected commercial sex workers were extracted from their cervical swabs by using DNA isolation kit. The E6 and E7 coding region (34-880) with HPV16 E6/E7 specific PCR were amplified and analyzed by using the DNAstar software.
