Objective: The study aimed to examine the role of the C-reactive protein to albumin ratio (CAR) as an inflammatory biomarker in relation to subclinical myocardial injury (SC-MI), addressing the limited knowledge of their association.

Methods: The study included 5,949 individuals without cardiovascular disease (CVD) from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. SC-MI was identified through a Cardiac Infarction Injury Score (CIIS) of ≥ 10 units based on a 12-lead electrocardiogram.

Background: Lowering lipid variability may be a potential strategy for improving the inflammatory state in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD). This study investigated the association between the variability of non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (non-HDL-C) and the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR).

Methods: This study enrolled 2,711 CHD patients subjected to percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).

Background: Elevated low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) is an established risk factor for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). However, low adherence to medication and lifestyle management has limited the benefits of lowering lipid levels. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) has been proposed as a promising solution.

Article Synopsis
  • * The study analyzed lp (a) and CRP data from 2712 patients who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and found that higher lp (a) variability correlates with increased mean CRP levels within a year post-PCI.
  • * The findings suggest that lp (a) variability could serve as an independent risk factor for higher post-PCI CRP levels, emphasizing its relevance in assessing inflammation and coronary artery disease risk.

Article Synopsis
  • * The withdrawal was a mutual agreement between the journal's Editor in Chief, Sergio Schenkman, and John Wiley and Sons Ltd.
  • * The article was retracted because of a technical error that allowed it to be published despite being rejected due to manipulation in the peer review process.

Myocardium functions as an immune organ, and myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) is known to initiate myocardial innate immune response to induce myocardial injury. However, the mechanisms underlying interferon-β (IFN-β)-mediated myocardial injury during I/R and whether long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are involved in IFN-β-mediated myocardial injury remain unknown. This study identified that I/R significantly induced IFN-β expression in induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes, and IFN-β further enhanced I/R-induced myocardial apoptosis.

The aim of this study was to assess the underlying impact of Tetramethylpyrazine (TMP), which is the main activity compound of Hort, on the blood-brain barrier, inflammatory and nitrous oxide systems in a rat model of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced sepsis. The SD rats were divided into control group, LPS treatment group, and LPS + TMP treatment group. TMP administered by tail vein injection.
