Role of ranulas in early diagnosis of Sjögren's syndrome: A case report.

Background: Although the presentations of Sjögren's syndrome (SS) are variable, ranging from mild dryness to wider systemic involvement, ranulas as early clinical signs were scarcely reported. Here, we present an adult patient with SS, who developed a unilateral simple ranula and was diagnosed primary SS 3 years later. We also provide a review of cases of SS and ranulas from 1980 to 2020.

[The use of kidney-shaped pressure bandage to prevent postoperative salivary fistula].

Purpose: To evaluate the usefulness of pressure bandage with kidney-shaped cotton pad in parotidectomy and the relevant factors of parotid salivary fistula occurring after parotidectomy.

Methods: One hundred and ninety-six patients with parotid benign tumor or tumor-like lesions were randomly divided into two groups, 100 cases in the kidney-shaped cotton pad group and 96 cases in the traditional management group. The incidence of postoperative salivary in relation to surgical procedure, main parotid duct ligation, and parotid salivary fistula was analyzed.
