Aims/introduction: The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index is a simple and reliable indicator of insulin resistance, and is associated with the development and poor outcomes of cardiovascular disease. Subclinical left ventricular dysfunction (SLVD) is frequently detected in approximately one-third of diabetes patients, but it has not been established whether the TyG index correlates with SLVD. We carried out this research to evaluate the relationship between the TyG index and SLVD in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients.

Context: Glucocorticoids have potent effects on the central nervous system. However, while patients with Cushing syndrome frequently report impairments in cognitive function, studies investigating cognitive function in patients with autonomous cortisol secretion (ACS) in adrenal incidentalomas (AIs) are scarce.
Objective: The aim of the present study was to evaluate neurocognitive function in patients with ACS.
Background: The preservation or restoration of β cell function in type 1 diabetes (T1D) remains as an attractive and challengeable therapeutic target. Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) are multipotent cells with high capacity of immunoregulation, which emerged as a promising cell-based therapy for many immune disorders. The objective of this study was to examine the efficacy and safety of one repeated transplantation of allogeneic MSCs in individuals with T1D.

This study aimed to investigate the direct effect of SGK1 on insulin sensitivity in adipose tissue.
Materials And Methods: We ectopically expressed or silenced SGK1 in adipocytes via lentiviral transfection, measured glucose uptake and evaluated insulin signalling using western blotting.

Sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2 inhibitors) are a new type of drug for the treatment of diabetes, and they have been proven to have a good hypoglycemic effect. Several lines of clinical evidence have shown that SGLT2 inhibitors can significantly reduce the risks of atherosclerosis, hospitalization for heart failure, cardiovascular death, and all-cause mortality and delay the progression of chronic kidney disease. Because of the protective effects of SGLT2 inhibitors on the heart and kidney, they are being studied for the treatment of heart failure and chronic kidney disease in patients without diabetes.

Early prevention strategies are needed to reduce the associated mortality and morbidity. We applied the combination of rules and different machine learning techniques to assess the risk of development of T2DM in an urban Chinese adult population.

Guidelines show that plasma aldosterone is normally suppressed by captopril (> 30%) in primary hypertension (PH) and in healthy people. It is unclear whether this standard is applicable in Chinese subjects.

HGMCs were cultured in vitro and divided into the normal group (N, 5.5 mmol·L⁻¹ glucose), the mannitol group(MNT, 5.

The study of DKD mechanisms is the most important target for the prevention of DKD. Renal senescence is one of the important pathogeneses for DKD, but the mechanism of renal and cellular senescence is unclear.

This study aimed to compare the effect of exenatide and glargine on body composition in overweight and obese patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) who do not achieve adequate glycemic control with metformin.
Methods: We performed a prospective, randomized study of 37 overweight or obese patients with T2DM who had inadequate glycemic control with metformin.
Aims/introduction: To compare the effects of gliclazide, liraglutide and metformin on body composition in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
Materials And Methods: A total of 85 patients were randomly allocated to receive gliclazide (n = 27), liraglutide (n = 29) or metformin (n = 29) monotherapy for 24 weeks. Body composition was measured using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry.
Aims: To investigate the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of a dual-acting glucokinase activator, dorzagliatin, and its safety, tolerability and effect on pancreatic β-cell function in Chinese patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D).
Materials And Methods: A total of 24 T2D patients were selected, utilizing a set of predefined clinical biomarkers, and were randomized to receive dorzagliatin 75 mg twice or once daily (BID, QD respectively) for 28 days. Changes in HbA1c and glycaemic parameters from baseline to Day 28 were assessed.
The current pathological diagnosis of aldosterone-producing adenoma (APA) is challenging because no histological markers of aldosterone production are available in routine practice. A previous study demonstrated that Disabled-2 (DAB2) is a specific marker of the () in rodents. The aim of the present study was to investigate the significance of immunohistochemical staining to detect DAB2 in the adrenal tissue of patients with APA.

This study aimed at testing the dynamic distribution of infused human MSCs and therapeutic effect of combined MSCs and Liraglutide, a long-acting GLP-1 analogue, on preserving β-cell function in severe non-obese diabetic (NOD) mice. We found that infused MSCs accumulated in the pancreas at 4 weeks post infusion, which was not affected by Liraglutide treatment.

Sixty-seven Chinese male IHH patients were recruited from the Departments of Endocrinology in eight tertiary hospitals and randomly allocated into the sequential uFSH/hCG group (Group A, n = 34) or the sequential uFSH plus zinc supplementation group (Group B, n = 33). In Group A, patients received sequential uFSH (75 U, three times a week every other 3 months) and hCG (2000 U, twice a week) treatments.

In an in vivo experiment, we demonstrated that after an 8-week treatment with an SGK1 inhibitor, the fasting blood glucose and HbA1c level significantly decreased in db/db mice. RT-PCR and western blot analyses revealed that intestinal SGK1 and sodium glucose co-transporter 1 (SGLT1) expression were enhanced in db/db mice.

Despite association of certain genes with idiopathic hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, the genetic inheritance and expression are complex and incompletely known. In the present study, seven Kallmann syndrome pedigrees in an ethnic Han Chinese population were screened for genetic mutations.
