These fractures occur at the enamel margins and their etiopathogenesis involves a complex interplay of mechanical, chemical, and biological factors. The ongoing research focuses on an overview of MEF to improve the knowledge about this condition.

The focus of this study is to elucidate the relationship between chemical pollution and human immunity.

[Temporal analysis of the prevalence of congenital hypospadias in the municipality of Gela].

Objectives: to evaluate the risk profile of hypospadias in Gela, an Italian National Priority Contaminated Site (NPCS) located in Sicily Region (Southern Italy), characterized by a significant excess of hypospadias in newborn residents compared to data from reference on regional, national, and international basis and, until 2014, by the presence of a petrochemical plant.

Design: geographical analyses were conducted by comparing the prevalence of the Gela municipality to prevalence found in Sicily, in a territorial area bordering Gela (ALG), and in the NPCSs of Milazzo and Priolo. The geographical comparisons were conducted for the period 2010-2020, the trend within the Gela NPCS was evaluated by comparing two subperiods (2010-2014 and 2015-2020).

Study of correlations between serum taurine, thyroid hormones and echocardiographic parameters of systolic function in clinically healthy Golden retrievers fed with commercial diet.

Taurine deficiency predisposes to the development of nutritional dilated cardiomyopathy and is widespread in dogs fed with non-traditional diets. However, Golden retrievers show lower plasma taurine concentration and an impaired systolic function compared to breeds of the same size and morphotype. For these reasons, it can be difficult to classify a subject from a cardiological point of view, with the risk of considering as pathological characteristics that can be completely normal in this breed.

Cleft lip and palate outcomes: Multidisciplinary approach for comprehensive management.

In patients with cleft lip and palate the most common associated dental problem is lateral incisor agenesis, often associated with lack of support and definition of the nasal tip. In many cases, adhesions deriving from surgical procedures and skeletal discrepancy make orthognathic surgery and rhinoseptoplasty unavoidable. In the present case report a dental rehabilitation with canine substitution and prosthetic-implant treatment in a posterior area is described.

Recovery in elite youth basketball players: The responsiveness of the psychophysiological measurements and the role of testosterone concentration.

This study investigated the recovery responses to the Total Quality Recovery (TQR), Well-Being questionnaire (WBQ), and Heart Rate (HR) responses to Submaximal Running Test (SRT), and the influence of salivary testosterone concentration (TEST) on these responses in 25 elite youth (U15) male basketball players. TQR, WBQ, and HR measurements were assessed after 48 hours of rest (T1), 24 hours after the 1 day of training (T2) and 24 hours after the 2 day of training (T3). Salivary sampling was conducted at T1 and T3.

Background: The relationship between paraspinal muscle degeneration and low back pain (LBP), disability, and structural changes has been investigated in the literature, but it is still a matter of debate. We differentiated paraspinal muscle magnetic resonance imaging by quality and quantity, focusing on fatty infiltration (FI) and paraspinal muscles cross-sectional area (CSA) from T12 to S1 in patients with and without chronic LBP. We aimed to determine whether paraspinal muscle quantity (CSA) and quality (FI) are positively associated with LBP or degenerative/spinopelvic changes in the spine.

Prevalence and prognosis of structural heart disease among athletes with negative T waves and normal transthoracic echocardiography.

Introduction: The aim of the present study was to evaluate the prevalence and prognosis of structural heart disease (SHD) among competitive athletes with negative T waves without pathological findings at transthoracic echocardiogram.

Methods: From a prospective register of 450 athletes consecutively evaluated during a second-level cardiological examination, we retrospectively identified all subjects with the following inclusion criteria: (1) not previously known cardiovascular disease; (2) negative T waves in leads other than V1-V2; (3) normal transthoracic echocardiogram. Patients underwent cardiac MRI and CT.

In this context, this study proposes a hybrid credit risk model to appropriately size public interventions for viable (worthy) businesses through systematic risk assessment during a period of turmoil. This study discusses the effects of the credit crunch-based economic downturn and proposes a methodology to assist policymakers in managing limited public resources to effectively support industrial supply chains.

Clinical and economic hospital burden of acute respiratory infection (BARI) due to respiratory syncytial virus in Spanish children, 2015-2018.

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a leading cause of acute lower respiratory infection (ALRI) in children, causing frequent outpatient visits and hospitalizations. Our study aimed to describe the clinical and direct economic burden of ALRI hospitalizations related to RSV in children in Spain and the characteristics of patients and their episodes. In this retrospective study, ALRI hospitalizations in children aged < 5 years for 2015-2018 were reviewed using anonymized administrative public hospital discharge data from Spain.

Olfactory function in laryngectomised patients: tracheo-oesophageal oesophageal speech.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate olfactory function in patients rehabilitated with oesophageal (ES) voice or tracheo-oesophageal (TES) prosthesis to further verify whether there were differences in smell alterations depending on voice rehabilitation modality.

Methods: A total of 40 patients who had undergone total laryngectomy participated in the study. Speech rehabilitation was achieved through TES in 20 patients (Group A) or ES in 20 patients (Group B).

Excess hospitalizations and mortality associated with seasonal influenza in Spain, 2008-2018.

Background: Influenza may trigger complications, particularly in at-risk groups, potentially leading to hospitalization or death. However, due to lack of routine testing, influenza cases are infrequently coded with influenza-specific diagnosis. Statistical models using influenza activity as an explanatory variable can be used to estimate annual hospitalizations and deaths associated with influenza.

Introduction: The management of osteoporotic fractures is sometimes rather challenging for spinal surgeons, and considering the longer life expectancy induced by improved living conditions, their prevalence is expected to increase. At present, the approaches to osteoporotic fractures differ depending on their severity, location, and the patient's age. State-of-the-art treatments range from vertebroplasty/kyphoplasty to hardware-based spinal stabilization in which screw augmentation with cement is the gold standard.

Clinical and economic burden of physician-diagnosed influenza in adults during the 2017/2018 epidemic season in Spain.

Background: Influenza is an acutely debilitating respiratory infection, contributing significantly to outpatient visits and hospitalizations. Spain lacks comprehensive and updated data on the burden of influenza, particularly in the outpatient setting. Our study aimed to fill this gap by estimating the clinical and economic burden of physician-diagnosed influenza cases in adults from four Spanish regions, stratified by age groups and presence of comorbidities.

PM elemental composition in indoor residential environments and co-exposure effects on respiratory health in an industrial area.

This study aimed to identify and characterise indoor sources of particulate matter (PM) in domestic environments. 74 inhabited apartments located in the urban area of Gela (Sicily, Italy), close to a refinery, and in three villages of the hinterland were evaluated, in real-world conditions, for the elemental composition of PM. The samples were collected simultaneously inside and outside each apartment for 48 h.
