Anxiety among mammography patients.

Anxiety levels appear to act as a barrier to screening mammography, perhaps as serious a barrier as cultural beliefs and economics. Future research on how to reduce anxiety around screening needs to be done. Such research requires we consider women in various age groups, of various income and education levels, and various racial and ethnic backgrounds if we are to overcome this serious barrier and increase screening participation.
