Punch resection alaplasty is a previously unreported surgical technique for the management of stenotic nares. Nine dogs underwent the procedure in conjunction with soft palate resection and/or laryngeal sacculectomy. Three dogs and two cats were treated with the novel punch resection alaplasty technique alone.

The most popular bulk acoustic wave (BAW) sensor is the quartz crystal microbalance (QCM), which has electrodes on both the top and bottom surfaces of an AT-cut quartz wafer. In the QCM, the exciting electric field is primarily perpendicular to the crystal surface, resulting in a thickness field excitation (TFE) of a resonant temperature compensated transverse shear mode (TSM). The TSM, however, can also be excited by lateral field excitation (LFE) in which electrodes are placed on one side of the wafer leaving a bare sensing surface exposed directly to a liquid or a chemi/bio selective layer allowing the detection of both mechanical and electrical property changes caused by a target analyte.

Annealing to 370 K resulted in the formation of a (6 x 6)gg low energy electron diffraction (LEED) pattern, even at submonolayer coverages. Examination of this structure with scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) revealed islands of zigzag chains at low coverages and large ordered domains at monolayer saturation.

These networks cover centimeters in area but can be addressed with nanometer precision. This hierarchical self-assembly of specific DNA protein complexes will be the basis for complex positioning of single molecules in two and three dimensions.

The AFM images reveal prominent, irregularly shaped raised domains that label with fluorescent markers for both resting and activated immunoglobin E receptors (FcepsilonRI), as well as with cholera toxin-aggregated GM1 and clathrin. The latter suggests that coated pits bud from these regions.

Those sites are mapped beforehand with simultaneous atomic force microscopy and submicron confocal fluorescence imaging, allowing characterization of probe partitioning between gel DPPC and disordered liquid DOPC domains with corresponding topography of domain structure. We thus examine the relative partitioning and mobility in gel and disordered liquid phases for headgroup- and tailgroup-labeled GM1 ganglioside probes and for headgroup- and tailgroup-labeled phospholipid probes.

Mechanical testing and radiological analysis were performed to determine the stability of the implant and the quality of the cement. Thirty-eight implants from 29 dogs were retrieved after time intervals ranging from 0.

Synovial cell sarcomas are rare in cats and metastatic SCS has not previously been reported. In both cases, treatment consisted of limb amputation and adjuvant doxorubicin.
