Background: Area postrema syndrome (APS) is recognized as a core feature in neuromyelitis optica (NMO) diagnosis. Isolated APS can occur at NMO onset and frequently results in a delay of diagnosis, along with devastating secondary neurologic deficits. To date, few studies have characterized APS-onset neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (APSO-NMOSD).

However, NAOS produced by most marine β-agarases always possess low DPs (≤6) and limited categories; thus, a strategy that can efficiently produce NAOS especially with various DPs ≥8 must be developed. In this study, 60 amino acid residues with no functional annotation result were removed from the C-terminal of agarase AgaM1, and truncated recombinant AgaM1 (trAgaM1) was found to have the ability to produce NAOS with various DPs (4-12) under certain conditions.

There is growing evidence that adipocytes play important roles in the progression of multiple cancers. Moreover, in obesity, adipocytes alter their original functions and contribute to the metabolic and inflammatory changes of adipose tissue microenvironment, which can further enhance tumor development. At present, the roles of adipocytes in the pathogenesis of epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) are far from being fully elucidated.

Materials And Method: In this study, we established a model of mouse obesity induced by a high-fat diet (HFD) before 30 days of forced exercise or sedentary mice. Then, we isolated extracellular vesicles (EVs) from plasma and identified them by transmission electron microscope, dynamic light scattering and western blot analysis.
Background: The transcription factor YY1 is an important regulator for metabolic homeostasis. Activating mutations in YY1 lead to tumorigenesis of pancreatic β-cells, however, the physiological functions of YY1 in β-cells are still unknown. Here, we investigated the effects of YY1 ablation on insulin secretion and glucose metabolism.

Female C57BL/6J mice, aged 12 months, fed a commercial chow were used in this study. The ISC function, ISC niche, intestinal epithelial barrier function, and intestinal immune function were assessed.

Objective: The present study evaluated the efficacy and safety of a subcutaneous octreotide injection for treatment of diazoxide-unresponsive CHI in China.
Background: In this study, the association between human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and related cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) or cervical cancer and vaginal microbiome was evaluated in Chinese cohorts.
Methods: The vaginal bacterial composition of five groups, HPV-infected women without CINs (HPV, n = 78), women with low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (LSIL, n = 51), women with high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSIL, n = 23), women with invasive cervical cancer (Cancer, n = 9) and healthy women without HPV infection (Normal, n = 68), was characterized by deep sequencing of barcoded 16S rRNA gene fragments (V3-4) using Illumina MiSeq.
Results: HPV infection increased vaginal bacterial richness and diversity regardless of the status of CINs.
To further understand the current status of diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis in China, the implementation of guideline in different levels of hospitals, and the need for continuing education in endometriosis among primary doctors. The survey was conducted in the form of convenience sampling questionnaire among the Wechat public platform. The doctors were free to participate in the investigation without any reward.

Objetive: The purpose of this study was to utilize the fourth-generation, multi-theory model (MTM) of health behavior change to explain change regarding yoga practice of asanas, shava asana, pranayama, dhyana, yama and niyama among college students.
The genotype of apolipoprotein E (APOE) is closely associated with susceptibility to Alzheimer's disease. Here, we described the generation and characterization of human induced pluripotent stem cells from peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of a 79-year-old female patient with Alzheimer's disease having APOE3/4 genotype. The generated iPSCs expressed pluripotent stem cell markers that were observed using immunocytochemistry.

However, until now, knowledge relating to FSH-driven signalling pathways that lead to the growth of EOC remained incomplete. We sought to explore whether sphingosine kinase (SphK) could mediate FSH-induced ovarian cancer cell proliferation and which pathway might be involved in this process.

Although cancer is commonly perceived as a disease of dedifferentiation, the hallmark of early-stage prostate cancer is paradoxically the loss of more plastic basal cells and the abnormal proliferation of more differentiated secretory luminal cells. However, the mechanism of prostate cancer proluminal differentiation is largely unknown. Through integrating analysis of the transcription factors (TFs) from 806 human prostate cancers, we found that ERG was highly correlated with prostate cancer luminal subtyping.

We aimed to explore the association between fat oxidation rates (FORs) and exercise intensity during age-related muscle loss.
Methods: A total of 224 healthy Chinese men aged 23-92 years were recruited.
Background: With the increase in incidence and mortality of endometrial cancer (EC), there is an urgent need to explore non-invasive strategies for identifying EC patients and facilitating risk stratification. The alteration of immunoglobulin G (IgG) N-glycome has been indicated in autoimmune diseases and several cancer types, demonstrating a significant association with disease pathogenesis and progression. However, little has been investigated in the IgG N-glycome of EC patients.

Although transgenic and gene knockout mouse models for several of these disorders exist, they often fail to faithfully replicate the clinical and histopathological features of the human skin condition. We have established a highly efficient method for precise deletion of critical gene sequences in primary human keratinocytes, based on CRISPR-Cas9-mediated gene editing.

Previous studies have demonstrated the importance of three key molecules in this pathway in the parasitic nematode Haemonchus contortus, including one TGF-β type I receptor (Hc-tgfbr1), one TGF-β type II receptor (Hc-tgfbr2), and one co-Smad (Hc-daf-3), which regulated the developmental transition from the free-living to the parasitic stages of this parasite. However, almost nothing is known about the function of the TGF-β ligand (Hc-tgh-2) of H.

Here, we observed that peripheral blood CD8 T cells from patients with cancer showed remarkably compromised expression of the cGAS-STING cascade. We demonstrated that the cGAS-STING cascade in adoptively transferred CD8 T cells was essential for antitumor immune responses in the context of T cell therapy in mice.

RNA modifications play a fundamental role in cellular function. Pseudouridylation, the most abundant RNA modification, is catalyzed by the H/ACA small ribonucleoprotein (snoRNP) complex that shares four core proteins, dyskerin (DKC1), NOP10, NHP2, and GAR1. Mutations in , , or cause dyskeratosis congenita (DC), a disorder characterized by telomere attrition.

The current study was designed to examine the protection of RAGE-specific inhibitor FPS-ZM1 against renal injury in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) and investigate the underlying mechanism. The adult male SHR were treated with FPS-ZM1 via oral gavages for 12 weeks, and age-matched male Wistar-Kyoto rats (WKY) were used as control. Treatment of SHR with FPS-ZM1 slightly reduced blood pressure, and significantly improved baroreflex sensitivity in SHR.
