Purpose: The purpose of this study was to report trends in the prevalence of early graft failure after endothelial keratoplasty in the United States.

Methods: Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) and Descemet stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK) graft volumes were collected from records maintained by 6 major eye banks in the United States from January 1, 2013, to December 31, 2018. The prevalence and presumed cause of early graft failures (defined as a graft with persistent edema or regrafted within 8 weeks after keratoplasty) each year were sourced from surgeon-reported adverse events.

Respiratory illnesses, including COVID-19, present a serious threat to endangered wild chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes) populations. In some parts of sub-Saharan Africa, chimpanzee tracking is a popular tourism activity, offering visitors a chance to view apes in their natural habitats. According to both professional journalists and news users, news should be While a great deal of research that treats relevance as co-constructed starts from the text of news stories, this paper asks how explicitly construct the (ir)relevance of particular news reports, taking a language-centered lens to open-ended survey responses. This paper makes a methodological argument in favor of a language-centered approach to open-ended survey data. Given the ubiquity of online surveys in many social science disciplines, the present paper provides an example of how this approach can deepen our understanding of survey responses.

Article Synopsis
  • Evidence has shown that donor ocular tissue can transmit several diseases, including certain viruses and cancers, while no evidence has been found for HIV, hepatitis C, and others, which remain contraindications for eye transplants.
  • Infections can occur from multiple sources, such as infected donors or during tissue processing, leading to complications like primary graft failure from Herpes simplex virus.
  • To enhance safety in ocular tissue transplantation, standardizing definitions of adverse events, implementing unique donor identification systems, and improving surveillance practices are essential.

Objectives: To investigate the tolerability of tolterodine extended release (ER) in older subjects with overactive bladder (OAB).

Methods: This was a retrospective analysis of pooled data from five large, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trials. Subjects with OAB symptoms, including urinary frequency and urgency (and nocturia in two studies) with or without urgency urinary incontinence, received qd treatment with tolterodine ER (4 mg) or placebo for 8-12 weeks.

Aims: Relationships were evaluated between treatment-related improvements in overactive bladder (OAB) symptoms as recorded in bladder diaries and patient-reported symptom bother, bladder-related problems and health-related quality of life (HRQL).

Methods: A post hoc analysis was performed on data from patients with OAB (n = 863) enrolled in a 12-week open-label trial of tolterodine extended release (ER) in a primary care setting. At baseline and week 12, patients recorded every micturition, urgency episode and urgency urinary incontinence episode in 3-day bladder diaries.
