Introduction: Universal TB education and counseling (TEC) is routinely recommended for promoting knowledge and medication adherence, but the quality of delivery often varies because of inadequate clinic space, time, and health worker training. Peer-led counseling is a promising but understudied solution to these challenges. We sought to evaluate the efficacy of a peer-led TEC strategy among newly diagnosed adults initiating TB treatment in Kampala, Uganda.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, scenario modeling played a crucial role in shaping the decision-making process of public health policies. Unlike forecasts, scenario projections rely on specific assumptions about the future that consider different plausible states-of-the-world that may or may not be realized and that depend on policy interventions, unpredictable changes in the epidemic outlook, etc. As a consequence, long-term scenario projections require different evaluation criteria than the ones used for traditional short-term epidemic forecasts.

Despite many patients needing radiotherapy as part of disease management, there remains limitations to access. Currently, the Philippines has 50 linear accelerator facilities serving a population of 110 million.

Search for Scalar Leptoquarks Produced via τ-Lepton-Quark Scattering in pp Collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV.

The first search for scalar leptoquarks produced in τ-lepton-quark collisions is presented. It is based on a set of proton-proton collision data recorded with the CMS detector at the LHC at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138  fb^{-1}. The reconstructed final state consists of a jet, significant missing transverse momentum, and a τ lepton reconstructed through its hadronic or leptonic decays.

Dapagliflozin in chronic kidney disease: cost-effectiveness beyond the DAPA-CKD trial.

Background: The Dapagliflozin and Prevention of Adverse Outcomes in CKD (DAPA-CKD) trial enrolled patients with estimated glomerular filtration rate 25-75 mL/min/1.73 m and urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio >200 mg/g. Objectives: To determine whether antecedent sinusitis is associated with incident rheumatic disease.

Methods: This population-based case-control study included all individuals meeting classification criteria for rheumatic diseases between 1995 and 2014. We matched three controls to each case on age, sex and length of prior electronic health record history.

Background: Excision is routinely recommended for atypical ductal hyperplasia (ADH) found on core biopsy given cancer upstage rates of near 20%. Identifying a cohort at low-risk for upstage may avoid low-value surgery. Objectives were to elucidate factors predictive of upstage in ADH, specifically near-complete core sampling, to potentially define a group at low upstage risk.

In 2019, FIGO started implementing its abortion project focusing on advocacy. The Advocacy for Safe Abortion (ASA) Project was conducted in partnership with 10 national professional societies of obstetrics and gynecology in Latin America and Africa. The project aimed to strengthen national societies, support them to be leaders in sexual and reproductive health, and enable them to obtain context-specific advocacy goals that improve access to safe abortion.

Purpose: Although chimeric antigen receptor T therapy (CAR-T) cells are an established therapy for relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM), there are no established models predicting outcome to identify patients who may benefit the most from CAR-T.

Patients And Methods: This is an international retrospective observational study including patients with RRMM infused with currently available commercial or academically produced anti-B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) CAR-T. We describe characteristics and outcomes in Europe (n = 136) and the United States (n = 133).

Are the results of open randomised controlled trials comparing antipsychotic drugs in schizophrenia biased? Exploratory meta- and subgroup analysis.

A recent meta-epidemiological study did not reveal major differences between the results of blinded and open randomised-controlled trials (RCTs). Fewer patients may consent to double-blind RCTs than to open RCTs, compromising generalisability, making this question very important. However, the issue has not been addressed in schizophrenia.

A Deeper Dive into Young Adults' Experiences with E-Cigarettes, E-Cigarette Cessation, and Transitioning to Cigarette Smoking.

: E-cigarette use among young adults is prevalent, with some voicing their desire to quit using e-cigarettes but needing support to do so. Young adults who use e-cigarettes are at risk for progressing to smoking combustible cigarettes, placing them at risk for severe health consequences. Limited research exists describing young adults' lived experiences with using e-cigarettes, e-cigarette cessation, and progression to combustible cigarettes.

'You don't see what I see': Co-designing simulation to uncover and address cognitive bias in healthcare.

Educational Challenge: Each year, adverse events are reported in healthcare, of which many relate to healthcare workforce cognitive bias. The active involvement of workforce and consumers in the review and co-design of effective training for the healthcare workforce to recognise, monitor, and manage unconscious bias is required.

Proposed Solution: We used participatory action research to co-design an innovative, interprofessional simulation based on 'real world' clinical incidents and lived experiences to improve the delivery of safe, high quality, consumer-focused healthcare.

The infectious agent for African trypanosomiasis, , possesses a unique and essential translocase of the mitochondrial inner membrane, known as the TbTIM17 complex. TbTim17 associates with six small TbTims (TbTim9, TbTim10, TbTim11, TbTim12, TbTim13, and TbTim8/13). However, the interaction patterns of these smaller TbTims with each other and TbTim17 are not clear.

Objectives: We aimed to cluster patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) based on comorbidities and then examine the association between these clusters and RA disease activity and mortality.

Methods: In this population-based study, residents of an eight-county region with prevalent RA on 1 January 2015 were identified. Patients were followed for vital status until death, last contact or 31 December 2021.

TMPRSS2 inhibitors for the treatment of COVID-19 in adults: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials of nafamostat and camostat mesylate.

Background: Synthetic serine protease inhibitors block the cellular enzyme transmembrane protease serine 2, thus preventing SARS-CoV-2 cell entry. There are two relevant drugs in this class, namely, nafamostat (intravenous formulation) and camostat (oral formulation).

Objective: To determine whether transmembrane protease serine 2 inhibition with nafamostat or camostat is associated with a reduced risk of 30-day all-cause mortality in adults with COVID-19.
