Across Generations: Defining Pedagogical Characteristics of Generation X, Y, and Z Allied Health Teachers Using Q-Methodology.

The present study identified the characteristics of allied health teachers across three generations. Using Q-methodology, a tripartite of characteristics as reflected by the three domains of learning emerged, namely, "the competence-centered teacher," "the empathetic teacher," and "the innovative teacher." Teachers across the three generations were described to be "competence-centered" since all believe to be well-qualified at their jobs.

Excessive Object Attachment in Hoarding Disorder: Examining the Role of Interpersonal Functioning.

Excessive attachment towards possessions can be maladaptive because it can lead individuals to excessively acquire and save objects. Little is known about how attachment to objects develops and changes over time; however, interpersonal factors have been theorized to play a role. The current study examined whether interpersonal factors, specifically interpersonal attachment style and empathy, moderate changes in object attachment over time.

Primary high-grade non-anaplastic thyroid carcinoma: a retrospective study of 364 cases.

Aims: We aimed to study the clinicopathological and molecular features of high-grade non-anaplastic thyroid carcinomas (HGTCs), a carcinoma with a prognosis intermediate between those of well-differentiated carcinoma and anaplastic carcinoma.

Methods And Results: This study included 364 HGTC patients: 200 patients (54.9%) were diagnosed with poorly differentiated thyroid carcinoma (PDTC), based on the Turin consensus (HGTC-PDTC), and 164 were diagnosed with high-grade features that did not meet the Turin criteria (HGTC-nonPDTC).

A critical review of cognitive behavioural therapy for hoarding disorder: How can we improve outcomes?

Psychological treatment for hoarding problems has historically been associated with poor outcomes. When treated as a subgroup of obsessive-compulsive disorder, individuals with hoarding beliefs were less likely to respond to treatment than individuals exhibiting other obsessive-compulsive beliefs and behaviours. When treated as its own disorder using cognitive behavioural therapy, individuals report approximately 25% improvement in symptoms on average.

Avalanche Photodiodes (APDs) are key semiconductor components that amplify weak optical signals via the impact ionization process, but this process' stochastic nature introduces 'excess' noise, limiting the useful signal to noise ratio (or sensitivity) that is practically achievable. The APD material's electron and hole ionization coefficients (α and β respectively) are critical parameters in this regard, with very disparate values of α and β necessary to minimize this excess noise. Here, the analysis of thirteen complementary p-i-n/n-i-p diodes shows that alloying GaAs with ≤ 5.

Frailty in Wild-Type Transthyretin Cardiac Amyloidosis: The Tip of the Iceberg.

ATTRwt-CA occurs in elderly patients and leads to severe heart failure. The disease mechanism involves cardiac and extracardiac infiltration by amyloid fibrils. The objectives of this study are to describe the frailty phenotype in patients with ATTRwt-CA and to assess the associations between frailty parameters, the severity of cardiac involvement, and the course of amyloid disease.

Precision Medicine and Triple-Negative Breast Cancer: Current Landscape and Future Directions.

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is an aggressive and heterogeneous subtype of breast cancer associated with a high recurrence and metastasis rate that affects African-American women disproportionately. The recent approval of targeted therapies for small subgroups of TNBC patients by the US 'Food and Drug Administration' is a promising development. Targeting and pharmacology of an anti-IL13Rα2 antibody and antibody-drug conjugate in a melanoma xenograft model.

IL13Rα2 is a cell surface tumor antigen that is overexpressed in multiple tumor types. Here, we studied biodistribution and targeting potential of an anti-IL13Rα2 antibody (Ab) and anti-tumor activity of anti-IL13Rα2-antibody-drug conjugate (ADC). The anti-IL13Rα2 Ab was labeled with fluorophore AF680 or radioisotope Zr for tracking using fluorescence molecular tomography (FMT) or positron emission tomography (PET) imaging, respectively.

Assessing carbon storage and sequestration is key for defining effective conservation actions to mitigate climate change. Forest species changes have direct impacts on carbon stocks and may lead to undesirable climate trade-offs. In this paper, we measure aboveground biomass (AGB) and the impact of forest changes on climate regulation through three land policy scenarios by 2030 in continental Portugal.

Unexpected Poor Growth in Pediatric Patients on Food-based Enteral Therapy: Case Series and Suggested Practice Changes.

Introduction: Enteral feeding pumps at times may deliver different volumes than are prescribed, which can negatively impact growth, nutrition, and well-being. This study sought to assess whether challenges with pump accuracy for patients on food-based formulas contributed to challenges with weight gain.

Methods: Chart review identified complex feeding patients receiving food-based enteral nutrition via feeding pump with unexpected weight loss.

In this study, proton-irradiated tungsten targets, up to 2.6 GeV, were investigated for the purpose of the experimental cross-section measurements. Radiochemical separation methods were applied to isolate the residual long-lived alpha-emitters Gd, Dy, and Sm and the beta-emitters I and Cl from proton-irradiated tungsten targets.

Persister Escherichia coli Cells Have a Lower Intracellular pH than Susceptible Cells but Maintain Their pH in Response to Antibiotic Treatment.

Persister and viable but non-culturable (VBNC) cells are two clonal subpopulations that can survive multidrug exposure via a plethora of putative molecular mechanisms. Here, we combine microfluidics, time-lapse microscopy, and a plasmid-encoded fluorescent pH reporter to measure the dynamics of the intracellular pH of individual persister, VBNC, and susceptible Escherichia coli cells in response to ampicillin treatment. We found that even before antibiotic exposure, persisters have a lower intracellular pH than those of VBNC and susceptible cells.

Sustainable generation of patient-led resources in a learning health system.

Background: Patient and Family Advisory Councils (PFACs) are an emerging mechanism to integrate patient and family voices into healthcare. One such PFAC is the Patient Advisory Council (PAC) of the ImproveCareNow (ICN) network, a learning health system dedicated to advancing the care of individuals with pediatric inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Using quality improvement techniques and co-production, the PAC has made great strides in developing novel patient-led resources.

Predictors of traffic events due to hypoglycemia in adults with type 1 diabetes: A Brazilian prospective cohort study.

Background: Individuals with type 1 diabetes (T1D) are exposed to an elevated risk of automobile accidents especially because of hypoglycemia that impairs physiological and defense responses.

Objectives: To assess local risk factors for traffic events in T1D adult Brazilian patients.

Methods: This is a prospective study and 12-month follow-up to assess predictors for traffic events on a cohort of drivers with T1D (n = 168) in Brazil.

JunD, not c-Jun, is the AP-1 transcription factor required for Ras-induced lung cancer.

The AP-1 transcription factor c-Jun is required for Ras-driven tumorigenesis in many tissues and is considered as a classical proto-oncogene. To determine the requirement for c-Jun in a mouse model of K-RasG12D-induced lung adenocarcinoma, we inducibly deleted c-Jun in the adult lung. Surprisingly, we found that inactivation of c-Jun, or mutation of its JNK phosphorylation sites, actually increased lung tumor burden.

Microbiota and Metabolite Modifications after Dietary Exclusion of Dairy Products and Reduced Consumption of Fermented Food in Young and Older Men.

The gut microbiota adapts to age-related changes in host physiology but is also affected by environmental stimuli, like diet. As a source of both pre- and probiotics, dairy and fermented foods modulate the gut microbiota composition, which makes them interesting food groups to use for the investigation of interactions between diet and ageing. Here we present the effects of excluding dairy products and limiting fermented food consumption for 19 days on gut microbiota composition and circulating metabolites of 28 healthy, young (YA) and older (OA) adult men.

Male genitalia are usually extremely divergent between closely related species, but relatively constant within one species. Here we examine the effect of temperature on the shape of the ventral branches, a male genital structure involved in reproductive isolation, in the sister species and . We designed a semi-automatic measurement machine learning pipeline that can reliably identify curvatures and landmarks based on manually digitized contours of the ventral branches.

The COVID-19 pandemic led to panic buying in many countries across the globe, preventing vulnerable groups from accessing important necessities. Some reports inaccurately referred to the panic buying as hoarding. Although hoarding is a separate issue characterised by extreme saving behaviour, the two problems may be influenced by similar factors.

Detection of porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) in the Philippines and the complexity of PCV2-associated disease diagnosis.

Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2), an important pig viral pathogen, can cause porcine circovirus-associated disease (PCVAD), resulting in economic losses associated with decreased growth and mortalities. The diagnosis of PCVAD is complex requiring clinical, pathological and virological approaches. This study assessed PCV2 infection using histopathology and immunohistochemistry (IHC) on tissue samples and quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) on serum samples from 47 grower-finisher pigs allocated in three clinical groups in the Philippines.

Acquired acoria and iris pearls in leprosy: Case report.
