Introduction: Cataract surgery is the most common surgical procedure performed in France. While the incidence of intraoperative complications affecting visual prognosis is extremely low, given the large number of patients operated on, the absolute number of patients affected by complications is quite high. Complication rates are significantly higher when ophthalmology residents (ORs) perform the surgery.

Its temporal organization varies with gestational age (GA) and post-menstrual age (PMA) but little is known about how sleep develops in very preterm infants. The objective was to study the correlation between the temporal organization of quiet sleep (QS) and maturation in premature infants without severe complications during their neonatal hospitalization.

This study aim was to assess the contribution of medico-administrative data in addition to French Renal Epidemiology and Information Network (REIN) data to the development of a risk score to predict the 1-year all-cause mortality in patients with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), and to compare it with previous scores. Data from a derivation sample (n = 6336 patients who started dialysis in 2015 in France) obtained by linking the REIN and the French National Health Insurance Information System databases were analyzed with multivariate Cox models to select risk factors to establish the score.

We examined 45 articles and 4 reports from safety agencies. These studies recommend a tub bath (rather than a sponge bath) for full-term infants and a swaddle bath for preterm newborns.

They reported that 32% and 15% of cases had sequelae following a maternal primary infection in the first and second or the third trimester, respectively. We aimed to revisit this relationship prospectively between 2011 and 2017, using accurate virological tools.

Methods: Data on all patients aged 18 years or older who started dialysis in mainland France in 2012 or in 2006 were collected from the Renal Epidemiology and Information Network and compared, depending on the dialysis initiation condition: ES or Planned Start (PS).
Background: Holder pasteurization has been reported to modify human milk composition and structure by inactivating bile salt-stimulated lipase (BSSL) and partially denaturing some of its proteins, potentially affecting its subsequent digestion.
Objective: We sought to determine the impact of human milk pasteurization on gastric digestion (particularly for proteins and lipids) in preterm infants who were fed their mothers' own milk either raw or pasteurized.
Design: In a randomized controlled trial, 12 hospitalized tube-fed preterm infants were their own control group in comparing the gastric digestion of raw human milk (RHM) with pasteurized human milk (PHM).
Background And Objectives: In developed countries, where omphalitis has become rare and related mortality nil, benefits of antiseptic use in umbilical cord care have not been demonstrated. We aimed to assess the noninferiority of dry care compared with antiseptics in France where antiseptic use is widespread.
Methods: We conducted a noninferiority, cluster-randomized, 2-period crossover trial, in 6 French university maternity units including all infants born after 36 weeks' gestation.
Unlabelled: The prognostic role of early MRI (≤ 6 days of life) is still uncertain in hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy (HIE) treated with hypothermia.
Objective: To compare the prognostic value of early (≤ 6 days) and late MRIs (≥ 7 days) in predicting adverse outcome at 2 years old in asphyxiated term neonates treated with hypothermia.
Methods: This retrospective study included all asphyxiated neonates eligible for hypothermia treatment between November 2009 and July 2012.
Background: Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) is the most common chronic lung disease of infancy. The influence of its initial severity on long-term respiratory outcome remains uncertain.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of "new BPD" on respiratory morbidity as well as respiratory function at rest and during exercise in school-age children.
Background: Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is an aggressive tumor with 50% risk of metastases at initial diagnosis or at follow-up. An inactivation of the tumor-suppressor gene von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) is present in >70% of sporadic cases by two of three different mechanisms: locus deletion, gene mutation, or promoter hypermethylation.
Objective: To correlate the complete status of the VHL gene with clinical and pathologic criteria.

Background: Exhaustiveness is required for registries. In the Breton registry of congenital abnormalities, cases are recorded at the source. We use hospital discharge data in order to verify the completeness of the registry.

Indeed, diabetes is the first cause of end-stage renal disease and, in France, 42% of incident patients had diabetes in 2012. In the general population, diabetes is associated with increased cancer risk.

Objectives: To describe the changes induced by immunization on heart and respiratory rate variability (HRV-RRV) and to test a potential association between preimmunization profiles and postimmunization CR events.
Methods: Continuous 72-hour CR recordings and 2.

Methods: The prognosis of PDICDH was compared with the prognosis of the other live-born CDH, either prenatally undiagnosed or not having had IPC. IPC consisted in prenatal lung maturation with corticosteroids, elective caesarean section at 37 weeks, immediate intubation, surfactant, high- frequency ventilation or oscillation, nitric oxide, intravenous prostacyclin, anaesthesia and haemodynamic support.

The long-term complications after anatomical repair of transposition of the great arteries (TGA) were analysed in a prospective study of 30 successive patients, from August 1996 to October 1999, who were presumed asymptomatic and investigated 10 years after surgery. All underwent clinical examination, ECG, stress Thallium 201 myocardial scintigraphy, Doppler echocardiography, Holter ECG, pulmonary perfusion scintigraphy, right and left cardiac catheterization with selective coronary angiography. Five patients had coronary lesions (4 thromboses and 1 coronary-pulmonary artery fistula).

The authors report a case of severe acute pulmonary oedema secondary to a laryngeal spasm in a 3-week-old neonate, immediately after induction of anaesthesia with halothane. After emergency tracheal intubation, the infant experienced a severe, life-threatening pulmonary oedema requiring prolonged intensive care.

Study Design: Prospective randomized study.

Plant-controlled ineffective root nodules, conditioned by the in1 gene in Medicago sativa L. cv Saranac, undergo premature senescence and have reduced levels of many late nodulins. To ascertain which factors contribute to premature senescence, we have evaluated proteolysis as it occurs throughout the development of ineffective Saranac (in1Sa) and effective Saranac nodules.
