Purpose: To assess the prevalence and risk factors of myopic macular degeneration (MMD) in young and middle-aged individuals with high myopia in Changsha, central China.
Methods: A total of 445 adults with high myopia (worse than or equal to -5.0 D) were examined between 2021 and 2023.
Background: Ewing sarcoma (ES), the second main pediatric bone sarcoma, is characterised by a chromosomal translocation leading to the formation of fusion proteins like EWS::FLI1. While several studies have shown that potassium channels drive the development of many tumours, limited data exist on ES. This work therefore aimed to study the transcriptional regulation of KCNA2 and define the involvement of the Kv1.

Tebentafusp, a bispecific protein targeting melanoma cells and T lymphocytes, is the first approved treatment with a proven survival benefit in a randomized clinical.

Experimental Design: We conducted an international retrospective cohort study of patients with TRK fusion-driven CNS tumors.
Mavacamten, the first drug in the class of β-cardiac myosin modulator, is used for the treatment of patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. This orally administered drug demonstrates wide interpatient variability in pharmacokinetics parameters, due in part to variant CYP2C19 alleles. Individuals who are CYP2C19 poor metabolizers have increased exposure and are at increased risk of reduced cardiac hypercontractility.

The meeting gathered world-renowned experts in cancer biology and immunology. It showcased the most advanced science on mechanisms driving cellular heterogeneity, plasticity, and signaling in normal and cancer cellular ecosystems, which contribute to cancer development, progression, and therapeutic resistance.

Knowing that ion channels are involved in tumorigenesis, this work aimed to study the involvement of the KCNN1 gene, which encodes the SK1 potassium channel, in ES development. Bioinformatics analyses from databases were used to study KCNN1 expression in patients and cell lines.

Methods: A total of 1637 cross-sectional and 407 longitudinal CSF samples from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) were tested with SAA. We examined longitudinal dynamics of amyloid beta (Aβ), α-syn seeds, and phosphorylated tau181 (p-tau181), along with global and domain-specific cognition in stable SAA+, stable SAA-, and those who converted to SAA+ from SAA-.
Jerseys are the second most popular breed in the US dairy industry, yet there are few studies that directly compare their behavior with Holsteins. The objective of this observational study was to describe differences in the standing behavior of healthy Jersey and Holstein dairy cows during the periparturient period. A total of 51 Jerseys (11 primiparous [PP] and 40 multiparous [MP]) and 36 Holsteins (8 PP, 28 MP) were used for this analysis.

The aim of this study was to assess current practices regarding the use and interpretation of lung scintigraphy in various clinical indications.
Patients And Methods: An online survey comprising 25 questions was sent to nuclear medicine departments in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, and United States between 2022 and 2023.
Introduction: Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathology is defined by β-amyloid (Aβ) plaques and neurofibrillary tau, but Lewy bodies (LBs; 𝛼-synuclein aggregates) are a common co-pathology for which effective biomarkers are needed.
Methods: A validated α-synuclein Seed Amplification Assay (SAA) was used on recent cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) samples from 1638 Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) participants, 78 with LB-pathology confirmation at autopsy. We compared SAA outcomes with neuropathology, Aβ and tau biomarkers, risk-factors, genetics, and cognitive trajectories.
Objectives: Staphylococcus epidermidis bone and joint infections (BJIs) on material are often difficult to treat. The activity of delafloxacin has not yet been studied on S. epidermidis in this context.

Methods: We used the Google search engine (last search March 2023) using the terms "rheumatoid arthritis" and "flare management." Additional searches targeted major arthritis organizations, as well as regional, national, and international resources.
Background: Physical activity is an effective method of reducing fall risk among older adults. Previous evaluations of the six-week Walk with Ease (WWE) program have documented benefits to functional outcomes, but the potential effects on reducing fall risk have not been evaluated. This pilot study evaluates outcomes of a community delivered WWE program for potential suitability as a fall risk reduction program.

We report the case of a 63-year-old patient with recurrence of acral malignant melanoma after adjuvant immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) treatment by PEMBROLIZUMAB complicated with immune-related grade II hepatitis. Rechallenge by combination immune checkpoint (NIVOLUMAB + IPILIMUMAB) led to a relapse of the immune-related hepatitis up to a grade 3. Combination ICI therapy was carried on after introduction of corticosteroid therapy.

The choice of the best probabilistic postoperative antibiotics in bone and joint infections (BJIs) is still challenging. Since the implementation of protocolized postoperative linezolid in six French referral centers, linezolid-resistant multidrug-resistant Staphylococcus epidermidis (LR-MDRSE) strains were isolated in patients with BJI. We aimed here to describe clinical, microbiological, and molecular patterns associated with these strains.

From 2001 to 2020, whey samples from cheddar cheese production in a Canadian factory were monitored for the presence of virulent phages capable of infecting proprietary strains of Lactococcus cremoris and Lactococcus lactis used in starter cultures. Phages were successfully isolated from 932 whey samples using standard plaque assays and several industrial strains as hosts.
