Generally, karst aquifers and springs are highly susceptible to contamination due to the high permeability and, therefore, groundwater flow velocities. The often thin soil cover, accompanied by dolines, can lead to fast infiltration of precipitation water loaded with mobilized contaminants such as pesticides and their transformation products. To date, continuous, temporally highly resolved in-situ monitoring to decipher concentration dynamics for a broad range of pesticides is missing.

Several recent studies reported microplastics (MPs) in river water, and therefore, the potential contamination of groundwater by MPs is a growing concern among stakeholders and citizens. In this research, we investigate the fate of MPs (> 20 μm) along six different stages of a major Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR)-water supply system in Switzerland.

People with CTS may show alterations in central processing of nociceptive information. It remains unclear whether the central sensitization inventory (CSI) is capable of detecting such altered central pain processing.

However, the transport of PPPs and their transformation products (TPs) to water bodies has serious negative effects on aquatic ecosystems. Small streams in agricultural catchments may experience pronounced concentration peaks given the proximity to fields and poor dilution capacity.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAgricultural pesticides can become persistent environmental pollutants. Among many, glyphosate (GLP) is under particular scrutiny because of its extensive use and its alleged threats to the ecosystem and human health. Here, we introduce the first global environmental contamination analysis of GLP and its metabolite, AMPA, conducted with a mechanistic dynamic model at 0.
