Predictors of Change in Cannabis Use Status from Pre- to Post-Recreational Cannabis Legalization in Canada: Evidence from a Two-Wave Longitudinal National Survey.

Objective: In October 2018, the Government of Canada legalized cannabis for recreational use nationwide. The effects of legalization on cannabis use have been primarily assessed through cross-sectional surveys.

Method: In the present study, a two-wave longitudinal design was used to explore potential demographic, substance use and behavioral addiction, and mental health predictors of change in cannabis use status following legalization.

Retinoic acid-adjuvanted vaccine induces antigen-specific secretory IgA in the gut of newborn piglets.

Mucosal secretory IgA (SIgA) produced by subepithelial plasma cells in the lamina propria is the major antigen-specific defense mechanism against mucosal infections. We investigated if a retinoic acid (RA)-containing adjuvant in parenteral immunization, can induce vaccine-specific SIgA in the jejunal lumen in a dose-dependent manner in neonatal pigs immunized with a Chlamydia hybrid antigen. To accurately quantify SIgA responses in mucosal secretions, an antigen-specific ELISA method with secondary detection of porcine secretory component rather than IgA was developed.

End of Life After Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement: A Danish Nationwide Cohort Study.

Background: Survival after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) has markedly increased. Thus, other comorbidities will intersect patient trajectories and challenge follow-up.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to describe patient characteristics and hospitalizations at end of life to further improve the quality of life for patients undergoing TAVR.

Recurrent Lumbar Disk Herniation and Revision Surgery Rates After Single-Level Lumbar Microdiscectomy in the Military Population.

Background: Lumbar microdiscectomy remains the most commonly performed surgical procedure for symptomatic lumbar disk herniation (LDH). Despite advances in surgical techniques, recurrent LDH (rLDH) ranges from 5% to 24%, representing the most common cause of surgical failure and revision surgery. Optimal treatment of reherniation remains controversial.

Tumor Budding, Poorly Differentiated Clusters, and Stroma Percentage in Uterine Endometrioid Carcinomas Are Morphologic Findings Associated With Adverse Clinical Outcomes.

Uterine endometrioid carcinoma (UEC) has well-defined morphologic features that carry prognostic significance and guide treatment. In addition to the well-known features, tumor budding (TB), poorly differentiated clusters (PDCs), and amount of stroma within the invasive front are associated with a poor prognostic outcome in many carcinomas. Here, we evaluate TB, PDCs, and the stroma percentage in UEC and correlate these findings with morphologic features known to be associated with a poor clinical outcome and with recurrence-free survival (RFS).
