Substrate-decoupled, bulk-acoustic wave gyroscopes: Design and evaluation of next-generation environmentally robust devices.

This paper reports on a new type of high-frequency mode-matched gyroscope with significantly reduced dependencies on environmental stimuli such as temperature, vibration, and shock. Objective: Mutations in KCNT1 have been implicated in autosomal dominant nocturnal frontal lobe epilepsy (ADNFLE) and epilepsy of infancy with migrating focal seizures (EIMFS). More recently, a whole exome sequencing study of epileptic encephalopathies identified an additional de novo mutation in 1 proband with EIMFS. Atypical syncope in a child due to a colloid cyst of the third ventricle.

A 10-year-old girl presented to an emergency room with acute-onset, brief, repetitive episodes of loss of consciousness. Computed tomography indicated a 0.6 cm colloid cyst of the anterior third ventricle, adjacent to the foramen of Monro.

Secondary headaches in children and adolescents.

A majority of the children presented for evaluation of headache complaints, will have one of the primary headache disorder such as tension-type or migraine. During the course of the evaluation, consideration must be given to the diverse collection of other medical and systemic disorders which may also cause headache in children and adolescents. The purpose of this article is to review the spectrum of secondary headaches.

Medical causes of headache in children.

Headache may be considered primary or secondary, and secondary headaches may be caused by intracranial disorders or medical/systemic disorders. In many cases, headache may be a presenting symptom of the medical disorder, and accurate diagnosis will lead to specific treatment. In other cases, the headache may be a known complication of the disorder, but the underlying disorder must be considered in management plans.
