Learning curve analysis of extraperitoneal single-site robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy: a CUSUM-based approach.

This study applied cumulative sum (CUSUM) analysis to evaluate trends in operative time and blood loss, It aims to identify key milestones in mastering extraperitoneal single-site robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy (ss-RARP). A cohort of 100 patients who underwent ss-RARP, performed by a single surgeon at the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University between March 2021 and June 2023, was retrospectively analyzed. To evaluate the learning curve, the CUSUM (Cumulative Sum Control Chart) technique was applied, revealing the progression and variability over time.

Metallaphotoredox Enabled Single Carbon Atom Insertion into Alkenes for Allene Synthesis.

Efficient methods for synthesizing allenes from readily available starting materials pose a persistent challenge in organic chemistry. In this work, we present a novel two-stage protocol for allene synthesis involving the single-atom insertion into alkenes, facilitated by synergistic photoredox and cobalt catalysis. Diverging from conventional methods such as the Doering-LaFlamme reaction, this photochemical rearrangement approach operates efficiently under mild conditions in a radical-based manner.

Research on Stability of Removal Function in Figuring Process of Mandrel of X-Ray-Focusing Mirror with Variable Curvature.

Over the past 30 years, researchers have developed X-ray-focusing telescopes by employing the principle of total reflection in thin metal films. The Wolter-I focusing mirror with variable-curvature surfaces demands high precision. However, there has been limited investigation into the removal mechanisms for variable-curvature X-ray mandrels, which are crucial for achieving the desired surface roughness and form accuracy, especially in reducing mid-spatial frequency (MSF) errors.

Routine cold storage leads to hyperacute graft loss in pig-to-primate kidney xenotransplantation; hypothermic machine perfusion may be preferred preservation modality in xenotransplantation.

Xenotransplantation (XTx) is an increasingly realistic solution to the organ shortage. Clinical XTx may require off-site procurement in a designated pathogen free (DPF) facility necessitating a period of cold ischemic time during transportation. This study evaluates the impact of different kidney preservation strategies on early graft function in pig-to-baboon XTx in a series of eight cases of pig-to-baboon xenotransplantation performed after five hours of cold ischemic time and compares these results to six cases of pig-to-baboon xenotransplantation performed with minimal ischemic time.

Background: The platelet-albumin-bilirubin (PALBI) grade is a comprehensive assessment index of liver function. Liver dysfunction is a key determinant of the pathogenesis and resolution of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), which affects the prognosis of patients.

Aims: To evaluate the association of PALBI grade with the risk of 30-day mortality in patients with ARDS.
