An inherent strength of hydrogen/deuterium exchange coupled to mass spectrometry (HDX-MS) is its ability to detect the presence of multiple conformational states of a protein, which often manifest as multimodal isotopic envelopes. However, the statistical considerations for accurate analysis of multimodal spectra have yet to be established. Here we outline an unrestrained binomial distribution fitting approach with the corresponding statistical tests to accurately detect and, when possible, deconvolute isotopic distributions that contain multiple subpopulations.

This study examines atmospheric metal outputs during the COVID-19 restrictions using honey samples collected from three land use types in Brussels Capital Region (BCR), Belgium, and Metro Vancouver Regional District (MVRD), Canada to study changes as the result of restrictions. By comparing these cities with distinct sizes, ages, and structures, we assess how urban environments responded to pandemic-induced restrictions.

In bacteria, however, classical deacylases are less well understood. We construct a Generalized Profile (GP) and identify thousands of uncharacterized classical deacylases in bacteria, which are grouped into five clusters.

ZNF699 encodes a KRAB zinc finger protein of unknown function. We aimed to investigate the genotype-phenotype spectrum of DEGCAGS and the possibility of a diagnostic DNA methylation episignature, to facilitate the diagnosis of a highly variable condition lacking pathognomonic clinical findings.
