Pseudotumors are a rare complication of total hip arthroplasty (THA), arising from local soft tissue reactions. These reactions can lead to painful joint effusions and prosthetic loosening, often necessitating revision surgery. Metal-on-metal and metal-on-polyethylene prostheses are particularly prone to this complication due to the accumulation of metal debris from prosthetic wear, which represents a significant drawback.

Background: Graduate registered nurses (RNs) start their careers working in a variety of clinical areas including aged care. However, they may not be fully prepared to work in aged care settings that often require them to work independently as the only RN on the premises. A list of essential clinical skills is crucial for supporting the development and effective transition of graduate nurses into aged care.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is one of the most common neurodegenerative diseases, but no disease modifying therapies have been successful in clinical translation presenting a major unmet medical need. A promising target is alpha-synuclein or its aggregated form, which accumulates in the brain of PD patients as Lewy bodies. While it is not entirely clear which alpha-synuclein protein species is disease relevant, mere overexpression of alpha-synuclein in hereditary forms leads to neurodegeneration.

Aims: Recent studies suggest that atrial fibrillation (AF) burden (time AF is present) is an independent risk factor for stroke. The aim of this trial was to study the feasibility and accuracy to identify AF episodes and quantify AF burden in patients with a known history of paroxysmal AF with a photoplethysmography (PPG)-based wearable.

Methods And Results: In this prospective, single-centre trial, the PPG-based estimation of AF burden was compared with measurements of a conventional 48 h Holter electrocardiogram (ECG), which served as the gold standard.

Purpose: Dickkopf-1 (DKK1) is a Wnt signaling modulator promoting tumor growth, metastasis, angiogenesis, and immunosuppression by regulating innate immunity. DKK1 is over-expressed in gynecologic cancers and is associated with shortened survival. DKN-01 is a humanized monoclonal antibody with DKK1 neutralizing activity that may provide clinical benefit to patients whose tumors have overexpression of DKK1 or Wnt genetic alterations.
