Article Synopsis
  • The study investigated the urinary excretion of nonesterified cholesterol (NEC) in women with cervical and endometrial cancers, comparing them to various control groups.
  • A significant number of women with active cancers showed NEC hyperexcretion, indicating a potential link between high NEC levels and active carcinoma.
  • The findings suggest that monitoring NEC levels could serve as both a diagnostic tool for detecting cancer and a method to track patient response to treatment in those with uterine carcinomas.
