Current literature demonstrates the positive impact of pharmacists prescribing medication on patient outcomes and pharmacist perceptions of the practice. The aim of this study was to understand the factors affecting prescribing practices among Manitoba pharmacists and identify whether additional training methods would be beneficial for a practice behavior change. A web-based survey was developed and participation was solicited from pharmacists in Manitoba.

The ability to observe lethal anthrax exotoxins translocating through size-constricting nanopores in vitro, combined with detailed sequence and structural data, has aided in elucidated mechanisms of exotoxin cell entry and toxicity. However, due to limited observations of anthrax exotoxins translocating through protective antigen nanopores in vitro and the instability of protective antigen-functionalized suspended lipid bilayers, questions remain regarding the native mechanisms of cell entry. Nanoporous hydrogel membranes offer a robust tool for studying protein translocation with ensemble measurements that complement conventional single-molecule translocation measurements.

On July 6, 2013, Montreal, Maine, and Atlantic railcar 5017 hauling 72 tanker cars of Bakken crude oil derailed over the town of Lac-Mégantic, Quebec. The town erupted in a fiery inferno as 5,560,000 liters of highly flammable Bakken crude oil exploded over the town, killing 47 people and contaminating 558,000 tons of soil and local waterways. While Montreal, Maine, and Atlantic Rail Chairman Edward Burkhardt initially blamed the derailment on the lone engineer and local firefighters, this study shows how Transport Canada and the rail industry undermined regulatory and safety measures for several years before the derailment.

Herein, we explore the effect of various additives on the success of the polymerization in order to optimize reaction protocols and identify new functionalized monomers that can be utilized in MF-ROMP. The use of protected alcohol monomers allows for homo- and copolymers to be prepared that contain functionality beyond simple alkyl groups.
