ENSO (El Niño Southern Oscillation) events are becoming more frequent and more intense as climate change continues. Although ENSO effects are known to propagate into the southwest Atlantic, knowledge of how these anomalies result in ecological impacts is yet to be documented. A 3600 km transect in the southwest Atlantic from the Falkland Islands (Malvinas) to Tristan da Cunha during La Niña (March 2018) found a more abundant and speciose seabird assemblage, with more filter-feeding seabird and cetacean species, and a shallower and more concentrated pelagic biomass, than a near identical transect during El Niño (March 2019).

Gloves, a standard precaution against infection and body fluid exposure, may impair sensory feedback critical for detecting temperature changes, potentially increasing the risk of burns during personal care tasks.
Methods: This study investigated the impact of glove use on heat perception.
Background: Research suggest that mind-body movement programs have beneficial effects on cognitive outcomes for older adults with cognitive decline. However, few studies have directly compared specific approaches to mind-body movement or studied the impact of remote program delivery.
Methods: In a 3-arm randomized controlled trial (RCT) for older adults with cognitive impairment, we are comparing a multidomain mind-body program that emphasizes movement, body awareness, personal meaningfulness, and social connection, and a traditional Chinese mind-body exercise (Tai Chi) to a health and wellness education control condition.
Context: Surrogate decision-makers have expressed the need for better preparation around communication and medical decision-making.
Objectives: This mixed-methods feasibility study aimed to assess the feasibility and usability of an online program to prepare surrogates for their role.
Methods: We developed a 2-part program for surrogates called PREPARE For THEIR Care with a diverse group of Community Advisory Board members and caregivers recruited from the National Patient Advocacy Foundation.
