A widespread maculo-papular cutaneous rash appeared on a HIV-positive young bisexual Cambodian man. He was treated for Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Pneumocystis carinii infections. He had been residing in France for seven years.

Seven patients had isolated pulmonary endocarditis and in 5 patients other valves were infected (aortic, tricuspid, mitral or all 3). Two patients were heroin addicts and 4 had underlying heart disease (congenital heart disease in 3 and aortic regurgitation in 1 patient).

The study of 28 confirmed cases of AIDS shows that transfused patients use a large amount of hospital's blood products, especially platelets. For these patients, the average cost of transfusion is higher than that, for intensive care unit patient's. The use of irradiated products increases the cost (+ 35%).
