Enantioseparation of -Stereogenic 1-Adamantyl Arylthiophosphonates and Their Stereospecific Transformation to 1-Adamantyl Aryl--phosphinates.

A focused library of 1-adamantyl arylthiophosphonates was prepared in racemic form. An enantioseparation method was developed for -stereogenic thiophosphonates using ()-1-phenylethylamine as the resolving agent. Under optimized conditions, three out of the five arylthiophosphonates were prepared in enantiopure form ( > 99%).

Pallium Canada's Curriculum Development Model: A Framework to Support Large-Scale Courseware Development and Deployment.

The need to improve access to palliative care across multiple settings and disease groups has been identified. This requires equipping health care professionals from many different professions, including physicians and nurses, among others, with basic palliative care competencies to provide a palliative care approach. Pallium Canada's Curriculum Development Framework supports the development, deployment, and dissemination, on a large scale, of multiple courses targeting health care professionals across multiple settings of care and disease groups.

A Mechanistic Study on the Tautomerism of -Phosphonates, -Phosphinates and Secondary Phosphine Oxides.

-phosphonates, -phosphinates and secondary phosphine oxides may be preligands, and are important building blocks in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, pesticides, and -ligands. The prototropic tautomerism influenced by substituent effects plays an important role in the reactivity of these species. The main goal of our research was to study the tautomerism of the >P(O)H reagents by means of computational investigations applying several DFT methods at different levels.

Hyperventilation assists proarrhythmia development during delayed repolarization in clofilium-treated, anaesthetized, mechanically ventilated rabbits.

Hyperventilation reduces partial pressure of CO (PCO) in the blood, which results in hypokalaemia. Hypokalaemia helps the development of the life-threatening torsades de pointes type ventricular arrhythmia (TdP) evoked by repolarization delaying drugs. This implies that hyperventilation may assist the development of proarrhythmic events.

Mucosal melanomas in the elderly: challenging cases and review of the literature.

Melanomas are malignant tumors that originate from melanocytes. They are most frequently localized in the skin, but 5% of all melanomas interest also extracutaneous sites as mucosal surfaces, parenchymatous organs, the retroperitoneum area, and the ocular ball. The purpose of this study was to investigate the epidemiologic and morphologic data of mucosal melanomas diagnosed at Emergency City Hospital (Timisoara, Romania) during a period of 12 years.
