Background: Gut L-type enteroendocrine cells (EECs) are intestinal chemosensory cells that secrete satiety hormones GLP-1 and PYY in response to activation of G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) by luminal components of nutrient digestion and microbial fermentation. Regulator of G-protein Signaling (RGS) proteins are negative regulators of GPCR signaling. The expression profile of RGS in EECs, and their potential role in satiety hormone secretion and obesity is unknown.

Current assessment of these parameters requires ergospirometry, limiting evaluation to laboratory or clinical settings. In this work, we introduce a wearable respiratory system that continuously tracks breathing during exercise and estimates VTs during ramp tests.

Our aim was to identify lung clusters based on their regional mechanical behavior over space and time in lungs subjected to VILI using machine-learning techniques.
Results: Ten anesthetized pigs (27 ± 2 kg) were studied.
Background: Burnout in primary care undermines worker well-being and patient care. Many factors contribute to burnout, including high workloads, emotional stress, and unsupportive supervisors. Formative evidence suggests that burnout might be reduced if clinic leaders hold quarterly and brief (∼30 min) one-on-one check-ins with team members to acknowledge and address work-life stressors (e.

While the alterations in lung mechanics associated with these morphological changes have been documented in the literature, the study of the mechanical behavior of parenchymal tissue from emphysematous lungs has been poorly investigated. In this work, we characterize the mechanical and morphological properties of lung tissue in elastase-induced emphysema rat models under varying severity conditions.
