Three solid materials, [Pb(HL)(SCN)2 ]⋅CH3 OH (1), [Pb(HL)(SCN)2 ] (2), and [Pb(L)(SCN)]n (3), were obtained from Pb(SCN)2 and an unsymmetrical bis-pyridyl hydrazone ligand that can act both as a bridging and as a chelating ligand. In all three the lead center is hemidirectionally coordinated and is thus sterically optimal for participation in tetrel bonding. In the crystal structures of all three compounds, the lead atoms participate in short contacts with thiocyanate sulfur or nitrogen atoms.

We report the measurement of 113Cd NMR chemical shift data for homoleptic thioether and related aza and mixed aza/thiacrown complexes. In a series of Cd(II) complexes containing trithioether to hexathioether ligands, we observe solution 113Cd NMR chemical shifts in the range of 225 to 731 ppm. Upfield chemical shifts in these NMR spectra are seen whenever: (a) the number of thioether sulfur donors in the complex is decreased, (b) a thioether sulfur donor is replaced by a secondary nitrogen donor, or (c) the size of the macrocycle ring increases without a change in the nature or number of the donor atoms.

A regio and stereospecific synthesis of 2-methyl-(Z)-4-(phenylimino)naphth[2,3-d]oxazol-9-one (1) was achieved by using titanium tetrachloride in methylene chloride in the preparation of the imine. The regiochemistry was assigned by single-crystal X-ray analysis. In vitro tests showed that this diastereomer is selectively active for some solid cancer tumors.
