Pharmacology of somatrotropin pegylated by electron-beam synthesis nanotechnology.

Pharmacological characteristics of somatotropin pegylated using electron-beam synthesis nanotechnology (PEG-STH) were studied. Oral PEG-STH stimulated the intensity of protein and lipid metabolism and endochondral bone growth without modifying the processes of periosteal and endosteal bone formation. Specific activity of this substance administered orally significantly surpassed that of parenteral non-modified growth hormone.

Effects of drugs of plant origin on the development of the immune response.

The effects of extracts from licorice (Glycyrrhisa glabra), great nettle (Urtica dioica), common burdock (Arctium lappa), and bur marigold (Bidens tripartite) on the humoral and cellular immune response and nonspecific resistance in mice were studied. Burdock and bur marigold extracts stimulated the humoral immune response, nettle and licorice extracts stimulated cellular response and nonspecific resistance, their effects being superior to those of pharmacopoeial Echinacea purpurea tincture.

New potentialities of HPLC in pharmacopoeian analysis.

Modern status of pharmacopoeian HPLC analysis and its main shortcomings are discussed. The philosophy "special analytical method for each substance" has to be revised, and as an alternative, a principle of creation of universal methods realized by means of HPLC analyzers is proposed. A prototype of such analyzer is described.
