Background: Advanced airway management is of fundamental importance in almost all areas of anesthesiology, emergency medicine, and critical care. Securing the airway is of the utmost importance, as this is a prerequisite for the oxygenation of the human organism. The clinical relevance of airway management is particularly evident in the fact that the primary cause of significant anesthesia-related complications can be attributed to this field.

Starch-based composite formulation of chickpea flour and black carrot (Daucus carota l.) pomace in extruded snacks: In vitro gastrointestinal behavior and stability of bioactive compounds.

Black carrot pomace (BCP) is a by-product of colorant production, containing various valuable components with the health promoting effects. In this study, for the first time, BCP was incorporated into a starch-based extruded snack formulation using wheat semolina and corn starch. Total phenolic content, total antioxidant capacity, phenolics, and anthocyanins after processing and in vitro gastrointestinal digestion were investigated, and physical and textural properties of the snack products were determined.

Selective Biofilm Inhibition through Mucin-Inspired Engineering of Silk Glycopolymers.

Mucins are key components of innate immune defense and possess remarkable abilities to manage pathogenic microbes while supporting beneficial ones and maintaining microbial homeostasis at mucosal surfaces. Their unique properties have garnered significant interest in developing mucin-inspired materials as novel therapeutic strategies for selectively controlling pathogens without disrupting the overall microbial ecology. However, natural mucin production is challenging to scale, driving the need for simpler materials that reproduce mucin's bioactivity.

Radiotherapy Effects on Airway Management in Patients with Nasopharyngeal Cancer.

: At present, there is a paucity of data in the literature pertaining to the impact of radiotherapy (RT) on the success of tracheal intubation in patients with nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC). The aim of this study is to investigate the frequency of difficult tracheal intubation in patients with NPC following RT. : Patients with NPC who underwent RT followed by surgery between 2012 and April 2024 at the University Hospital Heidelberg were retrospectively analyzed.
