Spontaneous ventilation as a key ventilation technique during open airway phase in tracheal resection and reconstruction: A case series.

Anaesthetic management of tracheal resection and reconstruction in patients with difficult tracheal pathologies, poses unique challenges-such as pre-operative assessment and preparation, the induction of general anaesthesia, airway sharing with surgeons during the intra-operative period while performing resection and reconstruction, emergence from general anaesthesia, and post-operative care. While there are no guidelines on choosing the ideal airway technique for the intra-operative period, we describe a simple-yet-effective airway modality, viz. spontaneous ventilation, as a key airway technique during the crucial open airway phase during tracheal reconstruction.

Effect of immobilised cervical spine on oropharyngeal sealing pressure with Ambu AuraGain™ Supraglottic airway: A randomised crossover trial.

Background And Aims: Ambu AuraGain™ laryngeal airway (AuraGain) is one of the newer supraglottic airway device introduced in 2014. Cervical spine stabilisation with hard cervical collar makes insertion of supraglottic airways and tracheal intubation difficult. This study was conducted to investigate whether the presence of a cervical collar affects the oropharyngeal sealing pressure (OSP) and fibreoptic view of the glottis (Brimacombe score) in airways secured with the AuraGain.

The endotheliochorial interhemal membrane of the Indian musk shrew, Suncus murinus: an ultrastructural study.

Even though the chorioallantoic placenta of Suncus has been previously investigated with light and electron microscopy, controversies related to its structure still remain. To resolve these, Suncus murinus placentae from several (early and late limb bud, advanced pregnancy, and full term) were examined by electron microscopy. The interhemal membrane of Suncus comprises a maternal endothelium with basal lamina, syncytial trophoblast with its basal lamina, fetal mesenchyme, and fetal capillary endothelium.
