A class of generated Lewis acid (LA) activated acridine complexes is reported, which act as potent photochemical catalysts for the oxidation of a variety of protected secondary amines. Acridine/LA complexes exhibit tunable excited state reduction potentials ranging from +2.07 to 2.

Temperate mixed forests are currently experiencing severe drought conditions and face increased risk of degradation. However, it remains unclear how critical tree physiological functions such as sap flow density (SFD) and tree water deficit (TWD, defined as reversible stem shrinkage when water is depleted), respond to extreme environmental conditions and how they interact under dry conditions. We monitored SFD and TWD of three co-occurring European tree species (Fagus sylvatica, Fraxinus excelsior and Acer pseudoplatanus) in dry conditions, using high temporal resolution sap flow, dendrometer, and environmental measurements.

Introduction: Mucormycosis is a rare invasive fungal infection (IFI) which is characterized by prolonged antifungal therapy, high morbidity and mortality rates, as well as increased treatment costs.

Areas Covered: Appropriate diagnosis of mucormycosis is a fundamental component of successful treatment, however, evidence about health economic expenses does not exist. Based on an international guideline approach for diagnosis of mucormycosis, we calculated costs for imaging-based and laboratory procedures and susceptibility testing from the German statutory health insurance perspective.

Objectives: Allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA) is a complex lung disease associated with significant morbidity. The ABPA Working Group (AWG) of the International Society for Human and Animal Mycology (ISHAM) revised their management guidelines in 2024, but there is currently no standardised tool to assess adherence to these recommendations.

Methods: We extracted key recommendations from the updated 2024 ISHAM-AWG guidelines, focusing on critical areas: screening and diagnosis of ABPA, managing acute and treatment-dependent ABPA, and monitoring treatment response.
