Adaptive immune resistance in cancer describes the various mechanisms by which tumors adapt to evade anti-tumor immune responses. IFN-γ induction of programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) was the first defined and validated adaptive immune resistance mechanism. The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is central to adaptive immune resistance as immune modulatory secreted and integral membrane proteins are dependent on ER.

This study aimed to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the VYC-20L injectable gel for improvement of temple hollowing.
Methods: Adults with minimal, moderate, or severe temple hollows were randomized 2:1 to receive VYC-20L or no treatment.
The bacterial pathogen forms multicellular communities known as biofilms in which cells are held together by an extracellular matrix principally composed of repurposed cytoplasmic proteins and extracellular DNA. These biofilms assemble during infections or under laboratory conditions by growth on medium containing glucose, but the intracellular signal for biofilm formation and its downstream targets were unknown. Here, we present evidence that biofilm formation is triggered by a drop in the levels of the second messenger cyclic-di-AMP.

Although health warnings on product labels have been subject to intensive political discussion and academic research, health warnings in alcohol ads have received little attention.
Methods: A between-subject factorial survey experiment was conducted with a convenience sample of adults in Ireland (n = 932) to compare single-text, multiple-text and shocking image-and-text health warnings displayed on two types of static alcohol ads-an ad with social imagery featuring people drinking alcohol and an ad featuring only the alcohol product.
Beta-lactam antibiotics are often the treatment of choice for serious bacterial infections. In a previous screen for novel genetic mediators affecting beta-lactam susceptibility, we discovered that deletion of , a conserved gene of unknown function, leads to increased resistance to beta-lactams, as well as increased susceptibility to detergent compounds. Here, we further characterize YdgH in , and using a combination of biochemical and cell biological approaches.
