Results of treatment with three various kinds of allografts: lyophilized bone, deep frozen bone and cartilage preserved in physiological solution, all of them radiation-sterilized are presented. We believe that this presentation may be helpful in estimating the tissue bank's allografts and in establishing indications and contraindications in the application of allografts in surgery.The 'indices of coincidence' were compared in a group of 1014 patients after bone (lyophilized and radiation-sterilized) transplantation.

The application of frozen and radiation sterilized allogenic bone grafts for reconstructions in orthopaedic operations is described. Analysis of results of treatment of 1125 patients was performed. It was found that use of preserved bone allows to reduce the extend and duration of surgery.

The results are presented of the study of the effectiveness of non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs (Apranax, Voltaren) on the basis of observation of 60 patients in a double blind trial after knee joint arthroscopic operations. The administration of Apranax 550 or Voltaren 50 within the period of 10 days after the operation decreased significantly the incidence of inflammatory reactions. Apranax 550 was acting more rapidly and more effectively in elimination of clinical signs and symptoms of inflammation, and the patients were not reporting any adverse effects.

In 20 children with tibial and femoral bones deformities due to hypophosphatemic rickets a corrective osteotomy/osteoclasis at 2 or 4 sites was performed. Both preoperative and postoperative pharmacological treatment was introduced. Good results were achieved in 13 cases, satisfactory an 4 and bad in 3 cases.

Functional treatment of fractures is a nonoperative technique used in intraarticular knee fractures and multifragment and multilevel fractures of the shaft of femurs since 1974. The basic principle of this technique is placement of the fractured extremity in the specially designed rehabilitation splint, with skeletal traction fixed above the ankle joint through both tibia and fibula. Traction reduces the fracture while stretching of muscles provides conditions favorable for callus formation.
