Context: Born-again stars offer us a unique possibility of studying the evolution of the circumstellar envelope of evolved stars in human timescales. To present, most of the observations of the circumstellar material in these stars have been limited to study the relatively hot gas and dust. In other evolved stars, the emission from rotational transitions of molecules, such as CO, is commonly used to study the cool component of their circumstellar envelopes.

Physical, Mental, and Financial Impacts From Drought in Two California Counties, 2015.

Objectives: To evaluate health impacts of drought during the most severe drought in California's recorded history with a rapid assessment method.

Methods: We conducted Community Assessments for Public Health Emergency Response during October through November 2015 in Tulare County and Mariposa County to evaluate household water access, acute stressors, exacerbations of chronic diseases and behavioral health issues, and financial impacts. We evaluated pairwise associations by logistic regression with pooled data.

Enzymatic characterization of a lysin encoded by bacteriophage EL.

The bacteriophage EL is a virus that specifically attacks the human pathogen . This phage carries a large genome that encodes for its own chaperonin which presumably facilitates the proper folding of phage proteins independently of the host chaperonin system. EL also encodes a lysin enzyme, a critical component of the lytic cycle that is responsible for digesting the peptidoglycan layer of the host cell wall.
