Purpose: To assess the association between neoadjuvant therapy and overall survival (OS) in patients with left-sided resectable pancreatic cancer (RPC) compared to upfront surgery.

Background: Left-sided pancreatic cancer is associated with worse OS compared to right-sided pancreatic cancer. Although neoadjuvant therapy is currently seen as not effective in patients with RPC, current randomized trials included mostly patients with right-sided RPC.

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is an aggressive hematological malignancy with genetic alterations. The FMS-like tyrosine kinase 3 (FLT3) gene is frequently mutated in adult de novo AML, with two types of mutations: internal tandem duplication (ITD) and point mutations in the tyrosine kinase domain. This study aimed to investigate the impact of FLT3 inhibitors and hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) on survival outcomes in patients with FLT3-ITD AML in a real-world setting.

Article Synopsis
  • Megaleporinus macrocephalus (piauçu) is a Neotropical fish with a unique ZZ/ZW sex determination system, making it an excellent model to study sex chromosomes.
  • Researchers assembled a high-quality reference genome of over 1.28 billion base pairs, revealing distinct regions on the sex chromosome that exhibit degeneration and differentiation.
  • Key findings indicate that genes like amhr2 and bmp7 may play important roles in sex determination and provide insights into the evolutionary dynamics of fish sex chromosomes.
