Retrospective analysis of effectiveness of fingolimod in real life setting in Turkey (REFINE).

Background: During multiple sclerosis (MS) treatment different modes of action such as lateral (interferon beta to glatiramer acetate or glatiramer acetate to interferon beta) or vertical (interferon beta/glatiramer acetate to fingolimod) drug switch can be performed. This study aims to investigate the clinical effectiveness of switching from the first-line injectable disease modifying treatments (iDMTs) to fingolimod (FNG) compared to switching between first-line iDMTs.

Methods: This is a multicenter, observational and retrospective study of patients with relapsing-remitting MS who had lateral and vertical switch.

The prognostic role of HIF-1α and NF-κB expression in RAS wild-type metastatic colorectal cancer: A Turkish Oncology Group (TOG) study.

Background: Not all RAS wild-type metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) patients experience the same benefit from anti-epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) treatments. Studies have shown that nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB), hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α), interleukin 8 (IL-8) and transforming growth factor β (TGF-β) may be therapeutic targets for mCRC. The aim of this study was to clarify the prognostic value of NF-κB, HIF-1α, IL-8, and TGF-β expression in patients with left-sided mCRC receiving EGFR inhibitors.

The effect of iron deficiency anaemia treatment on mean platelet volume.

Aim: To determine the relationship between mean platelet volume (MPV) and treatment response of iron deficiency anaemia (IDA) with normal platelet count. Study further aimed to determine changing of platelet parameters treatment response of IDA.

Methods: IDA patients (n = 124) and the control group (CG) (n = 124) who fulfilled the inclusion criteria were compared for MPV and platelet parameters.

Background And Objective: Visceral adipose tissue-derived serine proteinase inhibitor (vaspin) is an adipokine that correlates with insulin resistance and obesity in human beings. Previous studies have evaluated the serum vaspin levels in several diseases such as chronic haemodialysis patients and coronary artery disease. To our knowledge, serum vaspin levels have not yet been reported in predialysis patients.
