We previously demonstrated that some N-biphenylanilides caused cell-cycle arrest at G2/M transition in breast cancer cells. Among them we choose three derivatives, namely PTA34, PTA73 and RS35 for experimentation in solid tumor cell lines, classical Hodgkin Lymphoma (cHL) cell lines and bona fide normal cell lines. Almost all tumor cells were sensitive to compounds in the nanomolar range whereas, they were not cytotoxic to normal ones.

The mitochondrial amidoxime reducing component is a recently discovered molybdenum enzyme in mammals which, in concert with the electron transport proteins cytochrome b5 and NADH cytochrome b5 reductase, catalyzes the reduction of -oxygenated structures. This three component enzyme system plays a major role in -reductive drug metabolism. Belonging to the group of -hydroxylated structures, hydroxamic acids are also potential substrates of the mARC-system.

Gene electrotransfer upregulate DNA pattern recognition receptors or DNA sensors, which are part of the innate immune system. In this study, we tested if addition of the cocktail of innate immune system inhibitors to the cells during gene electrotransfer (GET) can increase transfection efficiency and cell survival. The results indicate that this cocktail can decrease cytosolic DNA sensors expression after GET, and consequently increase cell survival and transfection efficiency in B16 cells, but only in highly metastatic B16F10 subtype.

Adult stem cells may acquire mutations that modify cellular behavior, leading to functional declines in homeostasis or providing a competitive advantage resulting in premalignancy. However, the frequency, phenotypic impact, and mechanisms underlying spontaneous mutagenesis during aging are unclear. Here, we report two mechanisms of genome instability in adult Drosophila intestinal stem cells (ISCs) that cause phenotypic alterations in the aging intestine.
