Lipid metabolism is recognised as being central to growth, disease and health. Lipids, therefore, have an important place in current research on globally significant topics such as food security and biodiversity loss. However, answering questions in these important fields of research requires not only identification and measurement of lipids in a wider variety of sample types than ever before, but also hypothesis-driven analysis of the resulting 'big data'.

In April 2015, the Society of Academic Associations of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Medicine (SAAAPM) agreed to support the formation of the Association of Anesthesiology Program Administrators and Educators (AAPAE) to promote collaboration and collegiality among administrators and educators of anesthesiology residency and fellowship programs. This study was designed to determine if a series of interventions were able to promote a sense of community among administrators and educators of anesthesiology residency and fellowship programs.

A matter of taste: the adverse effect of pollen compounds on the pre-ingestive gustatory experience of sugar solutions for honeybees.

In addition to sugars, nectar contains multiple nutrient compounds in varying concentrations, yet little is known of their effect on the reward properties of nectar and the resulting implications for insect behaviour. We examined the pre-ingestive responses of honeybees to sucrose solutions containing a mix of pollen compounds, the amino acids proline or phenylalanine, or known distasteful substances, quinine and salt. We predicted that in taste and learning assays, bees would respond positively to the presence of nutrient compounds in a sucrose solution.
