Influence of inguinal hernia mesh repair on testicular flow and sperm autoimmunity.

Background: The incidence of infertility caused by the mesh inguinal hernia repair is not known. The aim of this study was to determine circulation and immunological testicular disorders after inguinal hernia mesh repair which can be related with infertility.

Methods: From February 2010 to December 2010, 43 male patients who underwent inguinal hernia mesh repair were included in a prospective study.

Preperitoneal approach for femoral hernia repair.

Background/aims: Although Lichtenstein's procedure is the standard procedure in surgical hernia treatment, and the role of laparoscopic hernia repair is constantly increasing, preperitoneal approach for femoral hernia repair should be equally considered.

Methodology: After the horizontal incision of transversal fascia, preperitoneal space is visualized. The hernial sac is opened and its content is placed in the abdominal cavity, or if there is a need, resection is performed.

Complications after hip rearthroplastics with revision endoprosthesis.

The stability of the revision endoprosthesis components is more difficult to achieve than in primary endoprosthesis due to large bone defects and/or decreased bone mass quality. That is the reason for more frequent complications for revision than in primary arthroplasty. The aim of this study was to investigate the frequency of complications in 122 patients who were operated with the revision endoprosthesis in the Department of Orthopedics in University Hospital Split in the period of 1998 to 2007 and accepted to participate in this study.

Pelvic peritonization after laparoscopic abdominoperineal resection for low-rectal carcinoma treatment: surgical technique.

Abdominoperineal resection is a standard method of low-rectum carcinoma treatment. It is associated with significant morbidity and mortality rates, which decreased with the development of preoperative diagnostic procedures, new surgical techniques and new surgical instruments. In this article, laparoscopic pelvic peritonization was used after laparoscopic rectum amputation for low-rectum carcinoma treatment.
