Tusi but not 2C: A Miami-Dade medical examiner case series highlighting the variable drug composition in colored powder paraphernalia.

Eight fatalities between September 2020 and July 2024 in Miami-Dade County involving the ingestion of colored powders, referred to as "tusi," "tucibi," or "pink cocaine," are reported. For each case, a description of the terminal event, the postmortem toxicology findings, the cause and manner of death, and the chemical composition of the "tusi" powder(s) found on or near the decedent are summarized. Fourteen powders, mostly pink with a sweet or fruity aroma, were submitted for analysis.

Congenital neoplasms in cattle: A literature review and multi-institutional case series.

Congenital neoplasms are rare and sporadic in cattle and can cause losses due to abortions and perinatal or neonatal deaths. The etiopathogenesis of congenital tumors in bovine fetuses and neonates is largely unknown, and their diagnosis is often challenging. Here we review the literature on congenital tumors in cattle and report 11 additional cases diagnosed at veterinary diagnostic laboratories in Argentina, Uruguay, the United States, and the United Kingdom, namely 4 congenital lymphomas, 3 mesotheliomas, 2 adenomatoid tumors, 1 lymphangioma, and 1 ovarian sex cord-stromal tumor in bovine fetuses and/or neonatal calves.

Determining the photic chronotype in locomotor activity and levels of endogenous control in the American dog tick (Dermacentor variabilis).

It is an open question whether the activity of host-seeking ticks is under endogenous circadian control or arises entirely as an exogenous response to external stimuli. We experimentally evaluated the chronotype of locomotor activity in individual unfed adult Dermacentor variabilis. Two major activity peaks in locomotor activity arose in response to an evenly split 24-hour photic cycle.

Cells are filled with thousands of vesicles, which mediate protein transport and ensure homeostasis of the endomembrane system. Distinguishing these vesicles functionally and molecularly represents a major challenge. Intracellular nanovesicles (INVs) are a large class of transport vesicles that likely comprises of multiple subtypes.
