KCL TEST: an open-source inspired asymptomatic SARS-CoV-2 surveillance programme in an academic institution.

Rapid and accessible testing was paramount in the management of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our university established KCL TEST: a SARS-CoV-2 asymptomatic testing programme that enabled sensitive and accessible PCR testing of SARS-CoV-2 RNA in saliva. Here, we describe our learnings and provide our blueprint for launching diagnostic laboratories, particularly in low-resource settings.

Singleton births after routine preimplantation genetic diagnosis using exclusion testing (D4S43 and D4S126) for Huntington's disease.

Objective: To develop exclusion testing protocols for Huntington's disease (HD) linkage markers suitable for use in a clinical preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) setting for couples in whom a partner was at 50% risk of inheriting HD, but who choose not to undergo presymptomatic mutation testing.

Design: Preimplantation genetic diagnosis using exclusion testing.

Setting: In vitro fertilization clinic.

Embryotoxicity of micropore filters used in liquid sterilization.

Microfiltration is the usual method of sterilization of tissue culture media. The filtrates of eight commercial filters were tested for embryotoxicity using mouse embryo growth. Four of five disk filters tested showed embryo-toxicity in the first 5 ml of filtrate and the three larger-capacity filters showed embryotoxicity for up to the first 10 ml of filtrate.
