Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence of preexisting atrial fibrillation (AF) in patients with MRSA-BSI during a three-year period and the impact of preexisting AF on MRSA-BSI outcomes.

Methods: This was a retrospective analysis performed using the National Inpatient Sample (NIS) over a three-year period (2016, 2017, 2018) for patients with MRSA-BSI as a principal diagnosis with and without preexisting AF. The primary outcome was mortality with secondary outcomes of acute coronary syndrome, cardiac arrest, cardiogenic shock, endocarditis, respiratory failure, acute kidney injury, length of stay, hospital cost, and patient charge.

Infrared thermography provides functional imaging by picturing the temperature pattern of the region imaged. The temperature correlates to the blood flow pattern and is used in the diagnosis of diseases like breast cancer, peripheral vascular disorders, diabetic neuropathy and fever screening. In the present study, the usage of ocular thermography for diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy is explored.

The plasma facing components (PFCs) inside a tokamak are typically exposed to extremely high heat flux of the order of MW/m(2). The brazing quality between the plasma facing materials (PFMs) and the heat sink will determine the structural integrity and hence the effective service life of these PFCs. Suitable non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques for the pre-qualification of these components are thus essential to evaluate their structural integrity at various stages of their service life.

The present study aims to estimate and validate the glycated haemoglobin (HbA(1c)) using non-contact infrared thermography. The diagnostic threshold was set as (HbA(1c)≥48 mmol/mol). The optimal regression model [r=0.

Animal surface temperature profile captured using infrared camera is helpful for the assessment of physiological responses associated with the regulation of body temperature. Diagnosing breast cancer in early stage itself has a greater effect on the prognosis. In this work, asymmetrical temperature distribution analysis of chemical carcinogen 7,12-dimethyl benz(a)anthracene-induced in the lower right flank region of Wistar rats (n = 6) was carried out to test the potential of thermography in diagnosing mammary cancer and tumor growth over a period of nine weeks in comparison with histopathology results as standard.
