Unusual Manifestation of Extraosseous Ewing Sarcoma: Report of 3 Cases.

Ewing sarcoma (ES), described as a diffuse endothelioma of the bone, is divided into two categories: osseous and extraosseous, which mainly affects adolescents. Extraosseous Ewing Sarcomas (EES) are rare tumors originating from soft tissues. Their clinical presentation depends mainly on the primary location of the tumor and are highly chemosensitive and radiosensitive.

The Fluctuations of Melatonin and Copeptin Levels in Blood Serum During Surgical Stress Regarding the Pediatric Population.

Introduction: Copeptin is known to be associated with heart damage, while melatonin is a regulatory hormone related to circadian rhythm and represents the levels of inflammation in the body.

Methods And Patients: The aim of the study was to measure in different surgeries the levels of copeptin and melatonin at different times before and after surgery in 56 patients aged from 5 days to 13.6 years.

Smooth muscle cell differentiation in the processus vaginalis of children with hernia or hydrocele.

Purpose: Incomplete obliteration of the processus vaginalis (PV) in children with inguinal hernia or hydrocele has recently been proposed to relate to smooth muscle cell (SMC) persistence. The aim of this study was to evaluate the diversity and differentiation of smooth muscle phenotypes in sacs associated with inguinal hernia and hydrocele through the expression of alpha-smooth muscle actin (SMA), h-caldesmon, desmin, and vimentin.

Methods: Sacs associated with male hernia (n = 22), female hernia (n = 8), and hydrocele (n = 10) were immunohistochemically evaluated using monoclonal antibodies against SMA, h-caldesmon, desmin, and vimentin.

Melanotic neuroectodermal tumor of infancy (MNT1) arising in the skull. Short review of two cases.

Introduction: Melanotic neuroectodermal tumor of infancy (MNT1) is a rare congenital pigmented neoplasm of neural crest origin, locally aggressive, and rapidly growing that develops during the first year of life. It most commonly arises from the maxilla, the cranial vault, and the mandible. Early diagnosis and radical surgery are critical for a long-term outcome.

Abdominoscrotal hydrocele.

Hydrocele is among the commonest inguinal anomalies in children. One of its most unusual variants is the abdominoscrotal hydrocele, of which no more than 22 cases have been reported in the world literature. The present case is the first one in our country.
