Unlabelled: This matched case-control study compared the computed tomography (CT)-based regional bone density of patients with fragility fractures of the sacrum to a control without fracture. Patients with a sacral fracture demonstrated a significantly lower regional bone density of the sacrum, the sacral bone density not being correlated with the BMD by DXA of the spine.

Introduction: The aim of this study is to compare the computed tomography-based regional bone density measured by Hounsfield units (HUs) in patients with and without fragility fractures of the sacrum.

Objectives: To develop age-, gender-, and regional-specific normative values for texture analysis (TA) of spinal computed tomography (CT) in subjects with normal bone mineral density (BMD), as defined by dual X-ray absorptiometry (DXA), and to determine age-, gender-, and regional-specific differences.

Materials And Methods: In this retrospective, IRB-approved study, TA was performed on sagittal CT bone images of the thoracic and lumbar spine using dedicated software (MaZda) in 141 individuals with normal DXA BMD findings. Numbers of female and male subjects were balanced in each of six age decades.

Background: Combination therapy with prednisone or etanercept may induce earlier and/or more improvement in disease activity in Disease Modifying Anti Rheumatic Drug (DMARD) naïve non-systemic Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) patients. Here we present three months clinical outcome of initial treatments of the BeSt-for-Kids study.

Methods: Included patients were randomized to either: 1.

Objective: The aim of this study in clinically active juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) was to assess the frequency and distribution pattern of synovitis as hallmark of disease and additional soft-tissue and bony abnormalities on MRI in the knee and wrist as two target joints.

Materials And Methods: MRI datasets of 153 clinically active JIA patients (110 with knee and 43 with wrist involvement) were evaluated independently by two readers for the presence of literature-based imaging features: "synovial hypertrophy," "bone marrow changes," "bone erosions," "tenosynovitis" (only in the wrist), and "cartilage lesions" (only in the knee) in accordance with validated definitions and scoring locations.

Results: Synovial hypertrophy was most frequently observed--both in the knee and in the wrist (61.

Purpose: The purpose of this investigation was to compare and contrast the measured fundamental properties of two new types of modulated proton scanning systems. This provides a basis for clinical expectations based on the scanned beam quality and a benchmark for computational models. Because the relatively small beam and fast scanning gave challenges to the characterization, a secondary purpose was to develop and apply new approaches where necessary to do so.
