Objective: In recent years, a growing number of people with type 1 diabetes gained access to real-time continuous glucose monitoring (rtCGM). Long-term benefits of rtCGM are unclear because of a lack of large studies of long duration. Methods: A total of 299 type 2 diabetics were recruited from 14 centres specializing in diabetes care across Belgium. Main study endpoints were changes in HbA(1c), weight and waist circumference, and tolerability and compliance.
Thyrotoxic Periodic Paralysis associates the clinical picture of hyperthyroidism with bouts of paralysis due to hypokalaemia. The hypokalaemia is due to a massive shift of potassium from the extra- to the intracellular compartment. This entity is found almost exclusively in Asian males.
