Knee osteoarthritis is a chronic degenerative disease associated with pain and decreased mobility that affects advanced-age individuals, thus causing further debilitation. Radiofrequency ablation can benefit patients who are not ideal candidates for surgical intervention and for whom conservative management has been unsatisfactory. Currently, radiofrequency ablation is performed using either ultrasonography or fluoroscopy.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA practical and efficient reaction for C2-selenylation of 1,4-naphthoquinones has been explored. This coupling reaction of two redox structural motifs, such as 2-bromo-1,4-naphthoquinone with diaryldiselenide / ebselen has been achieved by using sodium borohydride reducing agent at room temperature. Using this approach, several 2-selenylated-1,4-naphthoquinones were obtained in moderate to good yields and thoroughly characterized by multinuclear (1H, 13C, and 77Se) NMR, cyclic voltammetry, and mass spectrometry.

Even though he was an orthopedic surgeon, Sir Brånemark's groundbreaking contributions to dentistry in the form of the Brånemark System of dental implants established the groundwork for modern fixed prosthodontics. The dental community still values his efforts today.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFresh produce prone to microbial contamination is a potential reservoir for antimicrobial-resistant bacteria (ARB) and antimicrobial resistance genes (ARGs), posing challenges to food safety and public health. This systematic review aims to comprehensively assess the prevalence of bacterial pathogens and the incidence of ARB/ARGs in fresh produce and agro-ecosystems across South Asia. Twenty-two relevant studies published between 2012 and 2022 from three major scientific databases and the grey literature were identified.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOmicron subvariants of SARS-CoV-2 continue to pose a significant global health threat. Nanobodies, single-domain antibodies derived from camelids, are promising therapeutic tools against pandemic viruses due to their favorable properties. In this study, we identified a novel nanobody, Nanosota-9, which demonstrates high potency against a wide range of Omicron subvariants both in vitro and in a mouse model.
