Article Synopsis
  • This study analyzed 10 patients with paranasal sinus mucoceles that extended into the orbit or cranial regions, highlighting the potential complications associated with these cases.
  • The majority of patients were older adults, particularly women, experiencing symptoms like pain and visual problems, with detailed imaging revealing significant sinus involvement.
  • Surgical treatment, mainly through endoscopic sinus surgery, showed successful results with symptom relief, few complications, and no signs of recurrence, underscoring the need for careful evaluation and follow-up in such cases.

Article Synopsis
  • * Recent research used advanced genetic sequencing techniques to uncover a new fusion gene (CRTC1::MAML2) and a surprising rearrangement of the MAML2 gene to MYBL1, hinting at MYBL1's potential role in salivary gland cancers.
  • * The study also found that TERT gene rearrangements and amplifications are common in MEC tumors, with TERT playing a crucial role in tumor growth, as demonstrated

Asparaginase-based therapy is a cornerstone in acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) treatment, capitalizing on the methylation status of the asparagine synthetase (ASNS) gene, which renders ALL cells reliant on extracellular asparagine. Contrastingly, ASNS expression in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) has not been thoroughly investigated, despite studies suggesting that AML with chromosome 7/7q deletions might have reduced ASNS levels. Here, we leverage reverse phase protein arrays to measure ASNS expression in 810 AML patients and assess its impact on outcomes.

Background: High salt (HS) intake induces an augmented hypertensive response to nitric oxide (NO) inhibition, though it causes minimal changes in blood pressure (BP) in NO intact condition. The cause of such augmentation is not known. HS induces tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNFα) production that causes natriuresis via activation of its receptor type 1 (TNFR1).
