Objective: There remains a progressive projected deficit in the vascular surgery (VS) workforce for decades. Despite the expanding integrated VS residency pathway, the fellowship training model remains critical in supporting our future workforce. Therefore, it is imperative to understand the resident and program-specific factors that influence VS specialization among general surgery (GS) residents.

RESP-FIT: A Technology-Enhanced Combined Inspiratory and Expiratory Muscle Strength Training Intervention for Adults With COPD.

Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a progressive respiratory disease associated with respiratory muscle weakness and activity-limiting symptoms such as dyspnea. Respiratory muscle strength training (RMST) is an empirically validated therapy to increase respiratory muscle strength. The theoretically-informed, technology-enhanced RESPiratory FITness (RESP-FIT) intervention for COPD is a 6-week combined inspiratory and expiratory muscle strength training program with symptom measurement in real time via ecological momentary assessment (EMA).

How well do faculty do in providing general surgery EPA feedback?

Introduction: Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) provide a framework for competency-based assessment in surgery. EPA descriptions include observable behaviors by trainees at progressive levels of autonomy. The American Board of Surgery (ABS) required all General Surgery (GS) residency programs to implement assessment of 18 EPAs at the beginning of academic year 2023-2024.

Palliative Care Coordination Interventions for Caregivers of Community-Dwelling Individuals with Dementia: An Integrative Review.

Alzheimer's disease is a serious illness with a protracted caregiving experience; however, care coordination interventions often lack the inclusion of palliative care. The purpose of this integrative review is to identify and synthesize existing care coordination interventions that include palliative care for individuals with dementia and their caregivers living in community settings. The Whittemore and Knafl framework guided the review, with data analysis guided by the SELFIE framework domains.

Experiences with Negative Behavior and Incivility: Perspectives of Unlicensed Assistive Personnel and Registered Nurses.

Healthcare professionals experience negative behaviors such as incivility from various sources within the hospital environment. However, little is known regarding the experience of unlicensed assistive personnel with these behaviors. Using a cross-sectional survey design, the research team aimed to examine the presence, sources, and impact of negative behaviors among registered nurses and unlicensed assistive personnel within a US hospital.
