Antidiabetic and Anti-Inflammatory Effect of Oil in Alloxan-Induced Diabetic Rats.

Diabetes mellitus presents a great diversity of treatments that cause adverse effects; therefore, plants are a source of compounds that may have fewer adverse effects; () has compounds with potential antidiabetic activity. The objective was to evaluate the antidiabetic effect of oil (CCO) and its impact on oxidative stress in Wistar rats. Five groups were evaluated: (1) sham (SH), (2) 300 mg/kg CCO (CCO), (3) diabetic (D) induced with alloxan, (4) D + 300 mg/kg of CCO (D + CCO), and (5) D + 500 mg/kg of metformin (D + MET); all were treated for 5 days.

Telerehabilitation following fast-track total knee arthroplasty is effective and safe: a randomized controlled trial with the ReHub® platform.

Purpose: After a total knee arthroplasty (TKA), ensuring rehabilitation is continued at home is essential for a successful recovery. The aim of this randomized clinical trial (NCT04155957) was to demonstrate the safety and efficacy of an interactive telerehabilitation system (ReHub®) to guide and provide feedback during exercise in the postoperative period of a fast-track TKA program.

Methods: Fifty-two patients who underwent TKA were randomized to intervention ( = 26) or control ( = 26).

Ecological effectiveness of marine protected areas across the globe in the scientific literature.

A systematic literature review (SLR) of scientific articles on the effectiveness of marine protected areas (MPAs) to conserve biodiversity in the 2010-2019 decade using Scopus was done. Only studies that used Before-After-Control-Impact (BACI-type) research designs and at least one marine biodiversity indicator were included. The 23 studies included in the review were published in 19 journals and comprised 66 MPAs from 18 countries from the five continents.

Grade Retention, Academic Performance and Motivational Variables in Compulsory Secondary Education: A Longitudinal Study.

Background: Grade retention in compulsory secondary education is a commonly adopted action when students have academic achievement problems, but research has shown conflicting results. This study analyzes the relationship of school retention with academic performance, academic self-concept and goal orientation.

Method: A longitudinal design was carried out, with a representative sample (N = 1326) of secondary school students from the Canary Islands (Spain), randomly selected and evaluated for 18 months in four different waves.
