Somatic symptom disorder and the role of epistemic trust, personality functioning and child abuse: Results from a population-based representative German sample.

Background: A growing body of evidence explored symptom burden of somatic symptom disorder (SSD) and its complex etiology involving psychosocial aspects. Child abuse has been linked to numerous psychopathologies including somatic symptoms as well as impaired personality functioning and disruptions in epistemic trust. This work aims to investigate personality functioning and epistemic trust in the association between child abuse and somatic symptom burden.

Simulation of cardiac arrhythmias in human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes.

The effects and mechanisms of cardiac arrhythmias are still incompletely understood and an important subject of cardiovascular research. A major difficulty for investigating arrhythmias is the lack of appropriate human models. Here, we present a protocol for a translational simulation of different types of arrhythmias using human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes (hiPSC-CM) and electric cell culture pacing.

Cellular calcium handling and electrophysiology are modulated by chronic physiological pacing in human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes.

Electric pacing of human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes (hiPSC-CM) has been increasingly used to simulate cardiac arrhythmias in vitro and to enhance cardiomyocyte maturity. However, the impact of electric pacing on cellular electrophysiology and Ca handling in differentiated hiPSC-CM is less characterized. Here we studied the effects of electric pacing for 24 h or 7 days at a physiological rate of 60 beats/min on cellular electrophysiology and Ca cycling in late-stage, differentiated hiPSC-CM (>90% troponin, >60 days postdifferentiation).

A novel prognostic score (HAMP) for head and neck cancer patients with single and multiple SBRT-treated lung metastases derived from retrospective analyses of survival outcome.

Background: We report on the characterization and introduction of a novel prognostic score for patients undergoing stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) for the treatment of single and multiple pulmonary metastases (PMs) derived from head and neck cancer (HNC).

Methods: In this retrospective study, we examined selected factors associated with progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) among 59 patients with HNC treated with SBRT for a total of 118 PMs, between 2009 and 2023. Factors related to survival were included in the prognostic scoring system.
